Shri Kheteshwar Brahmdham Teerth, located in Asotra village near Balotra in Rajasthan's Barmer district, is a revered pilgrimage site dedicated to Sant Shri 1008 Kheteshwar Ji Maharaj. Born as Khet Singh in Bijrol Kheda, Sanchore, in 1912, he became a sanyasin at the age of 12 and was a prominent spiritual leader of the Rajpurohit community. He emphasized non-violence, chastity, high moral values, conservation of natural resources, and humanity above caste distinctions.
The Brahmdham temple, established by Sant Kheteshwar Ji, is notable for being the second-largest temple dedicated to Lord Brahma, after the one in Pushkar. Uniquely, it features idols of Brahma alongside his consort Savitri. The temple was inaugurated on 6 May 1984, and Sant Kheteshwar Ji took samadhi the following day.
The temple complex is managed by the Shri Kheteshwar Brahmdham Teerth Trust, which oversees various social and cultural initiatives, including the construction of temples, schools, hostels, hospitals, and dharamshalas across different locations.
Asotra village, where the temple is situated, is approximately 12 km from Balotra and 122 km from Barmer. The village has a population of around 733 people, with a literacy rate of 65.21% as per the 2011 Census.
Visitors to the temple can explore the serene Brahmasarovar, a lake excavated under the guidance of Sant Kheteshwar Ji, reminiscent of the sacred Pushkar Lake. The temple's architecture and spiritual ambiance make it a significant destination for devotees and tourists alike.
