We went to Suruj Kund from Jungle Camp Resort, as by track its 4 kms from here and by road 15kms. Must say amidst rocks this place has Shivalik Aesthetics, cold, raw, jungle and baba's. The Sadhus and locals here seem to enjoy around a fire. They offer you tea as prasadam, which comes our from kettle kept warm on ashes ( reminds of Turkish coffee), they make sure which you sit and drink. The babaji even offered our troop of 50 people KHEER , which tasted like nectar. You need to wash and keep the bowl back. Now even, here there are proper toilets . You can even take holy dips, watch tiny fishes and soak in the pure oxygen. Now opposite to Kund , 1500 meter away is Hinglaj Mata Ji's temple and this small track will churn all your aderanline juices more than 4 km track from Resort ( started trekking from village Ganvar) to Suraj Kund. We came back to Suraj Kund from Mata ji and from there beneath the temple there is an uphill track and a downhill and then walking parallel to the stream with an anicut in between you reach the road after 3-4 kms. Here is the Majhera village and official parking for tourist where we were put in jeeps to get back to resort.
So talking about distance, from Kelwara Suraj kund is approximately 15 to 20 kms . Tracking can be started from either TWO points - either Ganvar village or near Majhera Village, but I will definitely recommend start from Ganvar. We did with an organizing group, but If you are a regular trekker you can do on own as there are clear marks all the way. Any local will help you more clearly before you begin it.
Its good long track and almost took morning 7 to 1:30 to get back to resort for amateur as us. Not...
