This lake is known as Samiti Lake and falls on the way from Lamuney to View Point 1 if you are doing the Goechala Trek. Generally people visit View Point 1 for sunrise so they pass this lake during the night therefore it's visible on your way back. The time we went there it was half frozen on 9th April 2021. We were extremely lucky to get clear weather and could see the lake along with the summit with perfect amounts of snow as the groups that came just 3 days before us couldn't even cross Lamuney due to heavy snow storm. If you are fit and fine and have a interest to trek definitely do the Goechala Trek. It is a tough Trek but the feeling and the sceneries that your r gonna get throughout this trek are out of this world.

Next to heaven is Samiti lake for me. Serenity, calmness ambience and eye-catching view taken my heart away for more than one hour. Spent a life-long moment for the rest of my life. Prominence of peaks surrounding the lake creating magical reflection on the surface of crystal clear water. When we visited after summited Goecha La view point 1, we found here ice plates besides lake water, which creates crispy sounds by the pressure of our feets. Wish I could stay here for more time.

The lake full of glacier water from Mt. Kangchenjunga. In the night it goes freezes from the top & in the sunlight half of the lake only melt, rest half is still frozen. Due to this process half of the lake is now frozen from the top, you can walk on the snow. (i recommend not to do that). While you are walking through the midnight for the summit to Goecha-la VP1, you can hear a strange sound of the lake's wave which makes us scary.

It's a nice lake above 14000 ft height on the way to Goeachala trek . At the time of our trek from Lamunye to Goeachala we crossed it before sunrise on October 2013 . After viewing sunrise from Goeachala view point 1 , we take rest at the bank of Samiti lake on return journey and take our breakfast . It was a nice morning with clear view of mountain range with the excellent reflection in the lake . This lake is the source of the...
