Aliyar Dam, located a bit away from the hustle and bustle of Coimbatore city, is a scenic spot that’s perfect for tourists and nature enthusiasts. The combination of the serene dam waters, lush greenery, and towering mountains creates a picturesque setting that’s ideal for relaxing and clicking beautiful photos.

The entry fee is quite affordable, just ₹5 per person for access to the garden attached to the dam. If you plan to take pictures using your mobile, there’s an additional ₹20 photography fee. The garden is well-maintained with smaller fountains adding to its charm. After exploring the garden, you can climb the stairs to get closer to the dam. One side of the dam is bordered by the scenic garden, while the other side is flanked by magnificent mountains, making it an incredible sight.

Outside the garden, you’ll find some small vendors selling fruits and snacks, although they tend to charge slightly more as it’s a tourist area. However, during my visit, I didn’t see any vendors inside the garden itself. There are also a few shops near the entrance where you can grab some food.

For families with children, the kids’ play area inside the garden is a thoughtful addition. If visiting during the daytime, especially in hot weather, it’s advisable to carry water bottles and a cap to stay comfortable. தமிழக முன்னாள் முதல்– அமைச்சர் பெருந்தலைவர் காமராஜர் ஆட்சியில் பரம்பிக்குளம்– ஆழியாறு தொகுப்பணை திட்டம் உருவாக்கப்பட்டது. இதன்படி மேற்கு தொடர்ச்சி மலையில் உருவாகி அரபிக் கடலில் வீணாக கலந்து வந்த தண்ணீர் பரம்பிக்குளம் அணையில் தேக்கி வைக்க வழிவகை செய்யப்பட்டது. வால்பாறை மற்றும் நீர்பிடிப்பு பகுதிகளில் வழிந்தோடும் தண்ணீரை தேக்க 1962–ம் ஆண்டு மேற்கு தொடர்ச்சி மலை குன்றுகளின் அடிவாரத்தில் 600 ஏக்கர் பரப்பளவில் ஆழியாறில் புதிய அணை கட்டப்பட்டது. இந்த அணை 120 அடி கொள்ளளவு கொண்டது. இந்த அணையின் மூலம் தமிழகம் மற்றும் கேரள மாநிலங்கள் பயனடைந்து வருகின்றன. 3.25 டி.எம்.சி. தண்ணீர் தேக்கும் திறனுடைய இந்த அணையில் கடந்த 1984 ஆம் ஆண்டில் விவசாயிகள் வண்டல் மண்ணெடுக்க அனுமதி அளிக்கப்பட்டது. அதன் பின்னர் அணையில் தேங்கிய வண்டல் படிவுகள் அகற்ற எந்த நடவடிக்கையும் மேற்கொள்ளப்படவில்லை. இதனால் அணையின் கொள்ளளவு வெகுவாக குறைந்தது. பருவ மழைக்காலங்களில் அணையில் போதிய தண்ணீர் தேக்கி வைக்க முடியாத நிலை ஏற்பட்டது. இதனால் ஆண்டுக்கு சுமார் 6 டி.எம்.சி. தண்ணீர் வீணாக அரபி கடலில் கலக்கும் நிலை தொடர் கதையாக இருந்து வந்தது. அணையில் தேங்கிய வண்டல் மண் படிவுகளை அகற்றி விவசாய நிலங்களில் உரமாக போட அனுமதிக்க வேண்டும் என்று விவசாயிகள் சார்பில் நீண்ட நாட்களாக கோரிக்கை விடுக்கப்பட்டது. தூர்வாரும் பணி இந்த நிலையில் தமிழக அரசு பருவ மழைக்கு முன்பு நீர் நிலைகளை குடிமராமத்து செய்ய ரூ.100 கோடி நிதி ஒதுக்கீடு செய்து அறிவிப்பு வெளியிட்டது. குடிமராமத்து பணியில் விவசாயிகள் இலவசமாக வண்டல் மண் எடுத்து தோட்டங்களில் போட்டுக் கொள்ள அனுமதியளித்தது. அதன்படி ஆழியாறு அணையின் ஜீரோ பாயின்ட் பகுதியில் நேற்று காலையில் சிறப்பு பூஜையுடன் தூர்வாரும் பணி தொடங்கியது. இதற்கு கோவை மாவட்ட கலெக்டர் ஹரிகரன் தலைமை தாங்கினார். தமிழக சட்டமன்ற துணை சபாநாயகர் பொள்ளாச்சி ஜெயராமன், மகேந்திரன் எம்.பி., கஸ்தூரிவாசு எம்.எல்.ஏ., பொள்ளாசி சப்– கலெக்டர் காயத்ரி கிருஷ்ணன் ஆகியோர் முன்னிலை வகித்தனர். தமிழக உள்ளாட்சி துறை அமைச்சர் எஸ்.பி.வேலுமணி தூர்வாரும் பணியை தொடங்கி வைத்தார். தொடர்ந்து பொக்லைன் எந்திரங்கள் மூலம் அணை தூர்வாரும் பணி நடைபெற்றது. பின்னர் அவர் பேசியதாவது:– வண்டல் மண் எடுக்க அனுமதி முதல்– அமைச்சர் எடப்பாடி பழனிசாமி தமிழகத்தில் உள்ள ஆறு, ஏரி, குளம், குட்டை, அணைகள், நீர்வரத்து கால்வாய்கள் என அனைத்தையும் குடிமராமத்து பணி மூலம் தூர்வார உத்தரவிட்டு ரூ.100 கோடி ஒதுக்கீடு செய்தார். தற்போது மேலும் ரூ.300 கோடி ஒதுக்கீடு செய்யப்பட்டு உள்ளது. பெரிய அணைகளான ஆழியாறு, திருமூர்த்தி மற்றும் அமராவதி அணைகள் விவசாயிகள் பங்களிப்புடன் தூர்வாரப்பட உள்ளது. அணையில் தேங்கி உள்ள வண்டல் மண்படிவுகள் விவசாயிகள் இலவசமாக பெற்று தங்களது தோட்டங்களுக்கு உரமாக பயன்படுத்தி கொள்ள நல்ல வாய்ப்பு வழங்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. தென் மேற்குப்பருவமழை தீவிரமடைவதற்குள் விவசாயிகள் வண்டல் மண் படிவுகளை எடுத்துக் கொண்டு அணை தூர்வார ஒத்துழைக்கலாம். இதன் மூலம் விவசாயிகளும் நன்மை அடையலாம். குடிமராமத்து பணிமூலம் அணையின் ஆழம் அதிகரித்து கொள்ளளவு உயரும். இதேபோல் குளப்பத்து குளம், குப்பிச்சிபுதூர் அய்யன்குளம், எலவக்கரை குளம் மற்றும் தடுப்பணைகள் தூர்வார ஏற்பாடு செய்யப்பட்டு உள்ளது. மேலும் தி.மு.க.வினர் கண் துடைப்பிற்காக தூர்வாருவதை விட்டு விட்டு, மாவட்டத்தில் உள்ள ஏரி, குளம் குட்டைகளை தூர்வார முன் வர முன்வர வேண்டும். இவ்வாறு அவர் பேசினார். ஆனைமலை முன்னாள் பேரூராட்சி மன்ற தலைவர் ஏ.ஆர்.வி சாந்தலிங்க குமார், மத்திய கூட்டுறவு வங்கித்தலைவர் சக்திவேல், கிழக்கு ஒன்றிய செயலாளர் சுந்தரம், தென்னிந்திய தென்னை சாகுபடி யாளர்கள் சங்க தலைவர் தாத்தூர் கிட்டு கவுண்டர், கூட்டுறவு சங்க தலைவர் கோபால கிருஷ்ணன், மகாலிங்கம் விவசாயிகள் உள்பட பலர் கலந்து கொண்டனர். ஏற்பாடுகளை கண்காணிப்பு பொறியாளர் வெங்கடாசலம், செயற்பொறியாளர் கிருஷ்ணன் மற்றும் பொதுப்பணித் துறையினர் செய்திருந்தனர். 33 ஆண்டுகளுக்கு பின் ஆழியாறு அணை தூர்வார ஏற்பாடு செய்துள்ள தமிழக அரசுக்கு விவசாயிகள், பொதுமக்கள் மற்றும் சமூக ஆர்வலர்கள் பாராட்டு...
