The present day Cholingapuram (Sholingar) in Ranipet district of Tamil Nadu is one of the 108 Vaishnava Divya Desams and one of the 22 Vaishnava temples in the Thondai region, and is considered a very good place of prayer. Thirumangaiyazhwar, Peyazhwar, Nammalwar etc. have performed Mangalasasana and sung songs to the Lord of this place. The Azhwars called this place Kadikashalam after the mythological name. The seven great ascetics, namely Vama Devar, Vasishta, Kathyapar Atri, Jamadagni, Gautama and Bharathuvaja, desired to see the lion in his gentle form and prayed to the Lord. Lord Sri Yoga Narasimha Swamy, as soon as he wished, granted them a vision in Tirumala for a moment (a moment), and this place came to be known as Kadikashalam. This place was called Cholasimmapuram Cholingapuram and is now called Cholinga. If the Narasimha avatar stands out among the avatars taken by Sriman Narayana, can it be denied? Isn't that the incarnation that clearly revealed the truth that God is everywhere? The greatness and power of the one who incarnated as a lion to help the boy Prahlada, who was studying in school, to make his words true, is the greatest strength of the devotee. Such a lion-like deity is the one who has the temple of Yoga Narasimha Swamy on Thirukkadigai Hill. Before entering the city of Cholingapuram via Arakkonam, the Thirukkulam and the Thoranavai, which are thick with shady trees, point to the hill of Emperuman. The beautiful pond is also known as Brahma Theertham or Thakkankulam. Since it is the pond from which the curse of the four faces is removed, it is also called Brahma Pushkarani. The Utthira temple is dedicated to the venerable Bhaktoshitha Perumal (Thakkan is his name). The flag raising ceremony and flag lowering ceremony are held on the Thiruvadhirai star in the month of Chithirai and the Chitra Pournami star on the Chithirai star. After the Brahmotsavam in the month of Chithirai, when people go up to Periyamalai to watch the flag lowering ceremony and to see the Dvaada Saradhanam, the Tirthavari is seen in this pond, which has become the Takkan pond. There is a beautiful temple and a 30-foot tall statue of Anjaneyar on the banks of this pond. In this temple, you can still see the wonderful statue of Lord Kachchiyappatti appearing in the Garuda Vahanam, especially in the temple of Lord Kanchipuram and the Devaraja appearing in the Garuda Vahanam to his true devotee Swami Thottacharya. If you bathe in the Thakkankulam, wear clean clothes and think cleanly, and go to the foot of the Periyamalai, you will find a pond. This is the Narasimha Theertham. This is the Theertham where Lord Shiva got rid of his Brahmahatti dosha by bathing. Giving alms and charity on the banks of this pond is more beneficial than going to the market. After bathing in the Narasimha Theertham or sprinkling the Theertham on your head, if you walk a few more steps, you will come to the steps of the mountain temple of the Lord Singha. How can I describe the wonderful scenes that you see when you climb the mountain with the grace of the Lord? The Periyamalai, which is 750 feet high and has 1305 steps, reaches the top of the mountain, worships the flagpole and enters. First, you should worship the auspicious Amritbalavalli Mother, the goddess of the festival. Arulmigu Lakshmi Narasimhaswamy Temple, Sholingar - 631102, Ranipet District.
