Arulmigu Vaazhaithottathu Ayyan Thirukoyil — Attraction in Tamil Nadu

Ayyan Kovil temple is also known as Arulmigu Vazhai Thottathu Ayyan Temple, which is loacted in Ayyampalayam, Samalapuram, Tamil Nadu. It is located about 20 Kms away from the city centre of Tirupur.

Ayyan Kovil temple is on the banks of river Noyyal. It is a very beautiful temple with lots of hand-made paintings alongthe walls of the temples. The temple is famous for Lord Shiva who is the presiding deity of this temple. The idol is worshipped in the form of Shivlinga. The temple is maintained by Hindu Religious and Charitable Board. The environment around the temple is very peaceful and soothing. The history of this temple dates back to 1777, there was a birth of Chinnian, who was later known as Ayyan. The major attraction of the Ayyan Kovil temple is the soil of the ant hill, which is under the Kiluvai tree in the Karpagraham. It is still believed that the temple has power to cure poisonous snake and insect bites and different skin diseases. The soil from the ant hill is given as the prasadam to the devotees. One of the old and unique practices performed here is giving entry only to the men devotees in the Karpagraham, no female devotees are allowed entry inside it. Ayyan Guru Puja is the major festival which is celebrated here for 3 days in the month of Margazhi. Other festivals are also celebrated here. This temple serves food to 100 devotees on daily basis. Ayyan Kovil temple is kept well maintained, neat and clean. People usually visit here for 45 minutes to 1 hour. The best time to visit here is during the daytime, from 6:00 A. M to 8:00 P. M

Very ancient, powerful temple in and around coimbatore. As many of you know already the purpose of visiting this temple is to safe guard ourselves from snakes, scorpions etc.

Ambience: The temple is well maintained, clean and pieceful. As a practice devotees cook Pongal for ayyan and get the pooja done. For cooking Pongal there is a separate dedicated place where more than 30 families can cook simultaneously.

They also keep wood for burning purpose. I attached few snaps of cooking place. It is very neat and clean. Water for cooking and water for vessel washing also available.

Dining area: After cooking it will be taken to Pooja in main temple. Once after returning we can go to the dining area. The dining area again it's great and equipped with fans.

Many families can dine at same time. It is again clean and neat. There is also separate pipes for drinking and hand wash.

Free food: This temples equipped with free lunch for poor or old age peoples. They provide free food for 100 first come first serve basis. I believe this is done by tamilnadu government in many temples.

Parking: There are good number of spots for parking many cars can be parked. No issues for parking and its free.

சின்னையன் என்ற இயற்பெயர் கொண்ட வாழைத் தோட்டத்து கி.பி 1777ஆம் ஆண்டு செங்காளியப்பன் என்பவருக்கு மகனாக பிறந்திருக்கிறார். தனது 12ஆம் அகவை வரை கல்வி பயின்ற பிறகு தந்தையின் விருப்பப்படி மேய்ச்சல் தொழிலை மேற்கொண்டிருக்கிறார்.

சிறு வயதில் ஆன்மீகத்தில் பெரும் ஈடுபாடு கொண்டவராக இருந்த சின்னையன் மாடு மேய்க்கும் போது சிறு சிறு கற்களை அடுக்கி தெய்வ வழிபாடு மேற்கொண்டு வந்திருக்கிறார். ஒருநாள் இவர் மாடுமேய்க்கும் வழி வந்த பெரியவர் சின்னையனுக்கு சர்வவிஷ சம்ஹார மந்திரத்தையும், பஞ்சாட்சர மந்திரத்தையும் உபதேசித்துள்ளார்.

இதே பெரியவர் பின்னொருநாள் சின்னையனின் அறையில் தோன்றி சிவ பெருமான் பார்வதி தேவியாரோடு இருக்கும் காட்சியை காட்டி மறைந்துவிட்டார்.
