Kindly help me for me to update old review to help the tribals there. My earlier review is 5 year old . Any one who visited after November 2024 , please update about the approach road, so other visitors can go there . Please update the road condition , so I can remove my post which may be helpful to the local tribes .

My old review :- I don't understand why some people gave rating more than one to a long strenuous , torturing road trip. My personal advice is not to go there. Just 25 kilometers takes more than 1 and half an hour to reach . If you want to torture your family with damaged road, and you have an orthopedic doctor friend , and you are committed to go such a worst spot , all I can say don't go by sedan if you are having, and be ready to shell out at least 10 k for servicing after return . The road is specifically kept unrepaired by the Government to test Mahindra "That" it seems. To have a chicken lunch, for Rs 500/- this is too much torturing the family. Best I can suggest is by a take away food from your choice of restaurants, take out your vehicle , just part on the way near by agricultural field nearby your home, and enjoy. It's more fun than going Baralikkadu. Even if you have booked already, forget that RS 500/- and enjoy some where else. Don't go there. It's purely not a good place for family outing. If you want to support tribals just donate them from home ,save fuel and time by going out somewhere. Not a place for family outing to go there. The enroute is trecherous and may spoil your back bones along with car Tyre and Shock absorbers. Rest up to you. God only can help you that your car Tyre withstand in the route for your decision to go there. Actually Government have to give us money to go there, and in that case Rs 500/- is...

Surprisingly refreshing trip.... Few key points: This trip is organized by government as part of creating means of employment/earning for the local people... It costs 500 for an adult, 400 for a child(above 4years I guess) and free for children below 4 years of age.. (Note: Pls confirm about the age limit for children with the organizer)

Total package includes Coracle(பரிசல்) ride in Billur dam for a duration of close to 1hour... (Note: Billur dam is the main water source for entire Coimbatore district) Unlimited lunch with sufficient variety of food(veg & chicken) prepared by the local people living there... Relaxing swimming in the nearby river (Subject to rainfall during the time of the visit)

Now that I have briefly explained the trip package, let me share my experience in short...

As I mentioned earlier, this is surprisingly one of the best ever one day trips I've ever taken... Complete environment is really beautiful, calm and soothing... People are really friendly... Swimming in river was one of the most exhilarating experience I've ever had...so refreshing...

If you are nature lover, you should take this one day trip and I'm sure you won't regret it...

You can go either with your family or ur friends...That is the beauty of this trip...It has something for everyone...

My kind advice for families...Instead of spending considerable amount on shopping malls/movies on a weekend, visit Baralikadu trip and spend the most quality time with ur family especially kids...

Worth Every Penny....

Note: One may find the roads to the destination tough to drive as there are no proper roads laid for commuter comfort...

Nonetheless, time...

What they offer: We need to reach baralikadu on our own vehicle. Program starts by 10.30am. Boat ride is still 12.30pm, Lunch around 1.30pm to 2.30pm. River bath after lunch.

My Experience: We booked the trip via online. We took route via karamadai, we didn't reach the place ontime, the road is very damaged and it took more time than expected. We need to pay 50 at both the checkpost.

We reached the the place around 11.30 a.m ( we made it atlast). We will get info regarding the lunch timing and the coracle (parisal) ride timing, the condition of water for bathing, after that there is no one to guide us till we finish the lunch, we took some life jacket and hop on to one coracle, It was pleasent experience, It will be around halfen hour to one hour. The we will be dropped to the same spot where we started.

There is huge banyan tree with swing, we can play in it it will definitely bring some good time.

Then we need to wait till 1.30 for lunch to be served.

Menu: one banana, one sweet (Kesari cube), one chappathi and gravy, veg-biriyani, mudde (kali) and for veg:green leaf curry (keerai kadaisal) or for non-veg chicken curry, white rice with rasam, curd rice with papad and pickle. We can even get more from the above item if we want. The food was great, curd rice was awesome.

After the lunch we left the place since we heard that water is not suitable for taking bath at that time.

Final verdict: If you guys are big group and want to create some memories with them go for it. Make sure bring some bat and ball to play to spent some time. If you are less then five members then opt for different place than this.

I would chose kodeveri...

I am still dreaming about this dreamy place. Everything about the place was beautiful. The way Irula tribes welcomed us with boating, their traditional dance, music and food was wholesome. I am quite worried about the bad reviews for food, yes it’s little spicy for very young kids but the food was simple and so yummy. After experiencing their food and reading the negative reviews for food I felt we lost ourself in the luxury of eating hotel food that are very heavy. We are failing to appreciate the simple foods cooked naturally by communities like theirs. Let’s try to enjoy the simplicity and appreciate the traditional ways of cooking too. The food was simple and wholesome. We enjoyed each and every second spent at Baralikadu. The person organising was very helpful and inviting. The amount spent on this tourism feeds the 60 Irula families and they sold some products like honey, nuts from the wild. We will visit once again and soak in this dreamy place again for sure.
