What is it about water that it prepossesses the human mind? The ubiquitous liquid seems to draw human attention, whatever form it takes - the mighty ocean bound by sand and rocks, a massive river hauling the elixir for and the effluvium of humanity, a pond canopied by trees pouting out pink and white blossoms, a dithering gurgling brook, tiny drops over a shivering leaf on a cold morning, a puddle in mutilated tarmac on a rainy day or even a bucket of water rippled by a leaky pipe before a lazy bath. Irrespective of the size shape and surroundings, water seems to evoke a strange placid pensiveness in an unoccupied human mind. Chembarambakkam is one such retreat for calmness and peace.

It's an infinite expanse of water, completely still and homogenous showing no variation over its wntire area. The enormity of the lake would take you aback when it first hits your sight. The arrangement to sit and view the water is well made with a nicely paved road having seatwalls on both sides. You cannot bring your vehicle into the area but some two wheelers and occasional bigger vehicles do go on that road. The place is neat . People have to park their cars outside a gate and walk up to the lake. The short walk from the gate to the lake is also pleasant with trees all around. There's a flight of steps leading to the water and a few groups occupy that as well.

Tip1 : visit only this location as marked in the map. Take a left from ORR after madha engg college to reach this place. I know people who have gone to other parts of the lake and found it dirty.

Tip2: carry food to the place. There are no food shops in...

Chembarambakkam Lake, located near Chennai, is one of the city's key water reservoirs and a serene spot for nature lovers. The lake is known for its expansive views, peaceful surroundings, and the sense of tranquility it offers, making it a popular escape from the hustle and bustle of city life.

One of the main attractions of Chembarambakkam Lake is its picturesque landscape. The vast expanse of water, surrounded by lush greenery, creates a scenic backdrop that is particularly stunning during sunrise and sunset. The cool breeze and the gentle ripples on the water's surface make it a perfect spot for a quiet stroll or simply to sit and enjoy the natural beauty.

Birdwatching is another activity that visitors to the lake can enjoy. The lake attracts a variety of migratory birds, especially during the winter months, making it a delightful spot for bird enthusiasts and photographers. The sight of flocks of birds flying over the water adds to the lake's charm.

However, it is worth noting that the infrastructure around Chembarambakkam Lake is quite basic. There are limited facilities for tourists, such as seating areas or food stalls, which means visitors should come prepared with their own supplies. Additionally, the area can become crowded on weekends, so visiting during weekdays might provide a more peaceful experience.

Overall, Chembarambakkam Lake is a beautiful and calming place to visit, offering a refreshing break in nature. It’s an ideal destination for those seeking tranquility, photography opportunities, or simply a quiet place to relax near Chennai.

Chembarabakkam Lake is one of The Scenic Place To Visit in Chennai. Has A Very Big Lake, Feels like an Ocean. I often Visit on Early Morning For The Calm View and Sunrise. You can Visit The Lake For The Sunset too. It is a Wonderful Place to Take Photoshoots Along The Scenic View of Lake and Some Places Below The Lake Road were So Perfect For Photography. The Bike Entry To The Lake is by the Side of a Narrow Gate Which only The Locals Aware of.
