A very old temple carrying a rich heritage. The small temple was maintained clean and neat. It's about 1.5 kms from Beterayana Swamy temple. You can visit both these temples in an hour time.
The highlight of this temple is the main idol being placed inside a cave and thus the name. Very calm and peaceful location on a hill top. They do have water taps on the entrance to clean yourself before entering.
The road to reach is quite narrow and could be tough for beginners in driving. For those beginners, it's better to stop the car near the steps and climb the stairs rather than reaching the top on car, as that road is really worse and more narrower.
On the way to this temple is a huge lake with a small waterfall (the water was overflowing when we went) which is a great sight to see.
Note: The temple is not open all the time as this place is highly prone to wild elephant movement. Do call them and check before visiting the temple. Their number has been shared on many YouTube videos on...
Read moreThe history if this deity dates back to the time of the Pandava Arjuna who is supposed to have established this Deity within the temple. Legend has it that a King discovered it via seeing Garuda(bald headed eagle) soaring over the area. He excavated the deity and began the rituals. Then the Mughals invaded the area and the King buried the temple under foilage to protect it. After the invasion he couldn't find it and sought divine intervention. Upon discovery the rituals were started again and are continuing even now. The temple is open from 10am to 3pm only as the area is frequented by wild elephants. The Lord Lakshmi Narasimha is beheld in a cave which you reach after descending a flight of steep stairs and bending down to go under the entrance to the cave of just 4 feet. The Lord is very powerful and very compassionate....
Read moreGavi means cave. It's a Narasimha Swamy sculptured in cave on the rock, surrounded by rocks and formed a temple. As per archaka and sthala purana, this is 5000 years old temple. I have posted the sthala purana screen shot here. The essence is, when pancha Pandavas doing "agnana Vasa", they had stayed in this cave. For their daily worship, this idol was created and worshipped. As per archaka, it was sculptured by Arjuna but sthala purana says Pandavas. When the renovation work started, when they digged, they found serpent god idols and one of them is 10 feet tall installed nearby. So it became a naga dhosha sthala in recent years. The archaka here is also a astrologer who recommends some process of worshipping and he himself...
