Tuticorin Port, one of the major trading ports in India, is located in Tuticorin in the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Today, the port is known as the V.O.Chidambaranar Port. It is an artificial port and hence is one of the best engineering marvels ever created in India. With its massive size, it takes the second place in the list of the largest ports in India. This port also is the fourth largest container terminal in the country. The operations and the management of the port make it the Nation's Premier Port after the Sethusamudram Shipping Canal Project. It is most often compared with the Port of Singapore which is the second-busiest ports in the world.

V.O.Chidambaranar Port was declared to be a major port in India on 11 July 1974. The port functions all through the year. In Tamil Nadu, it is the third International Port and the second All-Weather Port. Tuticorin is famously known as the City of Pearls and is also famously known for its Ports. The location of the port is a strategically planned on the south-eastern coast of India and lies close to the east-west International sea route in Gulf of Mannar. With India to its west and Sri Lanka to its south-east, the Tuticorin Port is quite well protected from cyclonic winds and storms. It is the only port in South India that provides weekly direct container services to the United States of America...

Awesome place for sun raise and sun set. Sea shells and stones can be collected. Can have awesome bath as it is not shallow and waves are soft. You can see crabs, sea weed corals and sometimes Fisher men with boat and fresh catch. On the way to this place you can see the thermal power plant and from the beach the harbor lights and ships are visible and sets the mood. The lighting is good with flood lights at night and there are small bajji shops. Bus is available to and fro from tuticorin old bus stand. Sundays there is good crowd, other days there are people who come to jog or play foot ball etc basically good solitude and time to ponder...

The beach was really the best spot to hangout with your family and friends. The roadways that lead to beach is well laid down and the scenery along the way and at the beach is extraordinary. Especially during the evening with people being packed and while th sun is about to set it's a treat for every photogenic people. It was such a beautiful view with sky turning into beautiful orange. The night view is very beautiful too comparatively. The lights show such a view. But people slowly starts to leave unlike in marina beach. So it's till sunset the crowd stands. Has a really good parking space. Not much food stalls available...

This is a special beach for me from my child hood. It s a total free relaxing place at tuticorin. Not that much crowded compared to other tuty beaches. It s fishing shore . we can see the boats coming and going for fishing Pros We can get fresh fishes, crabs, lobsters, prons and squids @ morning and evening with moderate price. Neat place to relax and swim Cons Even though it s a fishing shore Tourism management should give more coverage to this beach. Large bushes like trees ( karuvela maram) making people afraid to access free. No sperate freshen up rooms or public toilets No separate pipes for drinking water

Myself residence of 50 years in tuticorin never visited beach harbour south end. Yesterday touched the end point with NHAI project Director. Good walking. Breathing. Enjoyable. The port trust should remove all unwanted plants viz Seema Karuvel in sea shore and if they give I shall make it very nice sea shore. Very soon I meet chairman and if necessary ministry in this regard. Muarchi vellum. M Ramasamy
