Kattery park
The State Horticulture Farm, Kattery, Coonoor was established during the year 1975-96. The farm is hired from a private sector and started to cultivate high yielding vegetable seeds. During the period of 1976 to 1981 the farm is named has Vegetable and Seeds Production Centre (VSPC).
The seeds are distributed to the small farmers and marginal farmers. During the period of 1981 – 1988 the farm is renamed has Plants and Seeds Production Centre (PSPC). In the later stage, under the Hill area Development Programme, Tea nursery was started for the production of Tea Clones, Vegetable Seeds, Fruit Plants, Shade Trees and maintenance of mother Tea bushes and fruit trees is being done. The yielded items distributed to the small farmers and marginal farmers.
1988 – 1989 the farm is renamed has State Horticulture Farm, the farm is production with V.P. Tea Clones, Silver Oak Plants and other Ornamental Plants.
From the year 2002-03 onwards the Integrated Horticulture Development Scheme the new production programme is being implemented. In the year 2011 Kattery Park was established around 5.0 Acre (A-Block) with Children’s Amusement Park, Water Fountain, Gazebos, Lawns and etc.,

Read moreIn comparison to ooty parks, it is a considerably more well-kept, green, and serene park. It is worthwhile to visit, therefore please add that to the Coonoor or Ooty agenda. You can easily go down and relish spending time here because its entrance is right on the road as you head towards Ooty. The park is sufficiently large and has a play area for children. Park is well-kept, clean, and organised. If you're lucky, you might even be able view the Ooty toy train track from one location of the park. Even a small waterfall that flows close can be seen. Briefly, it's a very lovely spot to visit.
This park is well-kept and has a lot of vegetation. On the road from Metupalayam to Ooty, this location is. The admittance charge, which is necessary to keep it running, was 20 Rs per person. Have good parking space just on the side of the park, and parking charges are also minimal. It's good spot to have a photoshoot for any commercials or pre-wedding. A small stream nearby and the view of tea plantations in the distance and a park adorned with plants keep travelers warm. If we pay 20 rupees for adults and then parking fee, we can enter the park. This place is a station of the toy train going from Mettupalayam to Ooty. We can see the train from this park. We can see the train between 9 am and 10 am. Unfortunately, we do not have access to the inside of the station. Refreshment facilities are also available here. There are small shops are available outside of the park having tea and snacks. There are few shade trees. By 9 o'clock in the morning it will be sunny. A hut and a small parlor are inside the park. In the morning, the toy train stops at the station near the park to fill with water. In such cases, the authorities do not provide the opportunity to see the train and take photos.
