If you're looking for a peaceful yet fun getaway in Tamil Nadu, Kodiveri Waterfalls is a seriously underrated spot that deserves more attention. Located near Gobichettipalayam in the Erode district, this place gives you the perfect mix of nature, relaxation, and local vibes.
The falls are formed from the Bhavani River flowing out of the Kodiveri Dam. What makes this place unique is how naturally everything blends – the dam, the river, and the lush green surroundings. The water isn't too wild, so you can actually get in and chill. A lot of people go there to bathe, swim, or just sit under the small cascades to relax. And honestly, it’s super refreshing.
One of the coolest things here is the coracle rides. These traditional round boats are handled by locals, and they take you around the calm waters near the dam. It’s a chill and scenic experience, plus some of them even offer freshly cooked fish, caught right there. Perfect if you're into local food!
There’s also a park-like area around the dam where you can relax, have a picnic, or just take photos. The views are super Instagram-worthy, especially during or just after monsoon when the water flow is strong and the greenery pops.
What I Liked:
The vibe is super chill – not overly commercial like other tourist spots.
Clean water and safe to enter if you're careful.
Coracle rides are fun and unique.
Perfect for a short road trip if you're near Coimbatore, Erode, or Salem.
Things to Keep in Mind:
The rocks near the waterfalls can be slippery, so wear good footwear.
It can get crowded on weekends and holidays.
Facilities like changing rooms or food stalls are limited, so plan ahead.
Best Time to Visit: Monsoon or just after the rainy season – June to September is ideal. The water levels are good, and the weather is pleasant.
Final Verdict: Kodiveri Waterfalls is a low-key gem. Whether you’re going with family, friends, or just want a solo nature escape, it’s totally worth the visit. Take some snacks, bring a change of clothes, and enjoy the mix of calm water, forest vibes, and local culture. It’s one of those places that leaves you feeling refreshed...
Read moreI had the most delightful experience during my recent visit to Kodiveri Waterfalls. It was a perfect Sunday morning when I decided to explore this natural wonder. (A day filled with unforgettable memories.)
The lush greenery and the soothing sound of cascading water created an oasis of tranquility. I began my visit with a refreshing oil bath. Then, as the noon sun warmed up, taking a dip beneath the waterfall was an absolute pleasure. The feeling of the cool water against my skin was rejuvenating, and the rush of water was like a natural massage. It's hard to put into words just how incredible that moment was – it was pure bliss.
Then, I had the chance to indulge in a mouthwatering fish curry kulambu served with white rice. It was more than just a meal. The cost is a bit higher, but it's worth trying after a bath.
In the evening, I headed to my friend's home in Gobi, where I spent quality time catching up and sharing stories. It was the perfect way to round off the day before returning home. By 8:00 PM, as I journeyed back, I couldn't help but reflect on the incredible journey I had experienced throughout the day.
Kodiveri Waterfalls isn't just a place; it's a haven of natural beauty and tranquility. If you're seeking an enchanting escape that offers relaxation, rejuvenation, and unforgettable moments, I wholeheartedly recommend a visit to...
Read moreKodiveri falls is one of the best hang out spots near Erode. We can spend a couple of hours with family and friends here. Very good atmosphere and a relaxing place. Parking is not a problem. We can park our vehicles either paid or park on the roadside. Entry fee to the falls is 5 rupees per person. There were not too many crowds during our visit, so we thoroughly enjoyed our time. We can go for 10-15 mins of HAND BOAT (Ohdam) inside the premises, and they are charging 50 rupees per head, and for small kids (maybe under 12 years old I guess) it's free. The water was so clean and fresh because of the floating water. This is not a big waterfall but the force of the water is the same as the other waterfalls. For safety, there are few handlebars? available. Some of the footpaths are very skiddy, so please mind your steps. Even though we fall down, there won't be a risk of water - but the risk of breaking our bones. So please be very careful. There are so many small shops available to refresh like coffee, ice cream, masala poori, cut fruits and of course fish and fish rice. Fish fry price starts from 50 rupees and the cost of rice is just 50 rupees with 1 curry fish. Hygiene may be a question, because of the usage of oil, but for one day it's not a very big issue. So just chill out and...
