Mannavanur Lake is 32 km away from Kodaikanal, it is accessible via road and can be reached within 1 1/2 to 2 hours. The roads are good & offer a scenic view enroute to the lake. Public transport is limited and has very few buses running through this route so it is advisable to plan your trip to this lake and return by the evening.
On the way to the lake you can see Poombarai Village and it's view from the hilltop is a stunning view one to be admired. We stopped near the Sai Baba Temple on the mountain road as we had better parking space to click a few snaps. The drive from Kodaikanal to the Mannavanur is visually enchanting with all the floura & fauna on both the sides as rich greenery greets you all the way.
Mannavanur Lake is a serene beauty, a paradise amidst the mountains, located in Mannavanur village. The lake is quite picturesque, you can see and admire it's majestic view as you drive down through the hills enroute. Its a breathtaking view of lake amid the lush green meadows with scenic hills at backdrop the enchanting picturesque view quite stunning.
Once you reach the lake you can buy entry tickets which cost ₹30 per person and they also offer boat rides, horse rides & zip line etc for which you can buy tickets in entrance to avoid getting scammed. A few wooden logs are placed as benches in the area for us to sit & relax to admire the mesmerizing view in the midst of this rejuvenating beauty and its surroundings.
Mannavanur Lake is perfect for a relaxing picnic with family & friends, if you can bring your foods & snacks. You can accommodate yourself in the small huts to relax & admire the beauty of nature, spend a memorable moment with your loved ones at this exotic lake.

Trekking: one needs to avail pass from forest department for trekking around the reserved forest area.An awesome place with a beautiful lake and hills all around. Entry fee is Rs.20 and for camera is Rs.25. One has to hike a small hill to reach the lake from entrance. Ample parking space is available outside and nothing to worry about safety. They offer horse riding, boating in lake, kayaking and trekking. The lake premises is open 365 days a year and since it is located quiet a distance from Kodaikanal, crowd will be less even during peak tourist season.
