During our visit, we have not allowed to visit the dam portion due to construction work. So my comments are more towards Kids Play area.
Mukkombhu Park has two play areas - Paid and Free. The Free Play area is very poorly maintained. I am not referring to falling leaves but with damaged items, stagnated pond structure. Please refer attached pictures.
The Play area with paid rides is maintained in okay level.
Temples & Dams: Temples and Dams constructed over many centuries ago are standing majestically with proper maintenance. But why administration is hesitant to maintain public buildings, facilities, museums, parks and tourist spots constructed after 1947?
One Possible Reason might be !! In our society/governance system, we have two categories of people, Category 1: People those who look for favour to perform their duty. Currently they are termed as "Corrupt".
Category 2: People who don’t perform their assigned duty for various reasons. In this crowd, we can hear some of them portray themselves as "Straight Forward". I do not have any clue how a person become "Straight Forward" when they succumb to pressure or selfish reason.
There is no doubt people in both the categories are selfish. But the level of selfishness varies. Category 1 is more selfish than Category 2. Category 2 type of people wants to withdraw next month salary and like to live their entire life. So, in our society social cause starts after retirement. They totally forgot about their assigned duty and not ready to do justice for it. And never tried to set the things right considering people welfare/benefit. They just point the finger towards Category 1 type of people to get the clean chit. In my view both the categories of people are corrupted.
The maximum damage to our society is done by Category 2 type of people. If Category 2 type of people get corrected and make them adhere to their assigned duties, Category 1 type of people won’t exists at all or very easy to eliminate them.
Please do not mistaken me on giving negative comment. I really feel tired to see the same maintenance related issues around us. Please move towards people centric governance giving maximum benefit to people welfare and benefits. Please come out of fake respect, fame, propaganda and try to do some good from your end to this society. Always remember whoever works in Government services are answerable to People more than your...
Read moreMukkambu Park, often touted as a picnic spot, unfortunately falls short of delivering a truly enjoyable experience. While the surrounding natural beauty of the Cauvery and Kollidam rivers offers a brief respite from the city's bustle, the park itself is a prime example of poor maintenance and neglected facilities. Upon entering, visitors are often met with a sense of weariness, as many of the promised attractions are either non-functional or in disrepair. The much-hyped toy train, for instance, seems to be a permanent fixture of broken dreams, consistently out of service. Similarly, boating facilities, when available, often involve less-than-ideal conditions with shallow, uninviting water. Children's play areas are frequently rundown, posing more safety concerns than fun, with broken equipment and untidy surroundings. Food options within the park are severely limited and often unhygienic, making it advisable to carry your own snacks and meals – a significant inconvenience for those looking for a leisurely day out. Restroom facilities are another major pain point, frequently found in an unsanitary state, detracting from any sense of comfort or relaxation. Parking can also be a nightmare, especially during peak seasons, with visitors often directed to park far away on the road, adding to the frustration. The park's infrastructure feels outdated and neglected, struggling to meet the expectations of modern visitors. There's a clear lack of consistent upgrades or attention to detail, leaving many areas looking tired and unappealing. It feels like a place that once had potential but has been left to slowly decay. The only redeeming quality of Mukkambu Park is its location at the confluence of the Cauvery and Kollidam rivers. The views of the water and the surrounding greenery can be pleasant, offering a chance for some fresh air and a brief connection with nature. However, this natural charm is often overshadowed by the pervasive sense of disrepair within the park's confines. In conclusion, Mukkambu Park is far from a must-visit destination. Unless significant investments are made in its upkeep and facilities, it remains a largely disappointing experience, offering little beyond a mediocre picnic spot...
