After participating in the wonderful uchikala abhishegam in Pillayarpatti, we went back to karaikudi, had our lunch, and went back to our hotel for a short nap.
We already decided that we will visit and participate in the Pradhosam in this temple.
Got up around 4.00 pm, had our cup of tea enroute to the temple, and reached the temple around 4.45pm. Felt so so happy to see such a wonderful twin rajagopurams which were so wonderfully painted. The temple itself must have been refurbished since it was looking so neat and clean.
Though it is a Shiva temple, still the importance is given to the great writer / poet Sekkizhar. some even call it Sekkizhar temple.
Felt so happy that a decent size crowd was already there in the temple to participate in the Pradhosam pooja.
Each temple has it own uniqueness, and in this temple it was interesting to note that nandhi was the vahana (infront of) for Ambal. So the pradhosam pooja was being done for both the nandhi's. It was also nice to see people moving from one nandhi (sannadhi) to the other on cue, as if there was somekind of unknown switch telling them to go from the Lord sannadhi to the Goddess sannadhi.
Was nice and great to see the temple kept in such good condition, shows that the nagarathars are doing a fantastic job not only in the upkeep of the temple but also in running it.
Temple faces east, Lord and Ambal faces east. Another unique feature is Ambal present on the right hand sand of the Lord. Two kodimaram present. Two rajagopuram (another unique feature) present side by side and both facing east. Huge temple pond present and is present infront of the temple.
Definitely a must visit temple if you are...
