The place itself has been a family fav for decades, but the management of the tourist dept has not entirely improved things. I was fine with paying Rs. 30 each to go to the lookout point, thinking that this fee would contribute to the cleanliness and upkeep of this lovely spot, but apart from a policeman near the trees and a tired looking guard at the entrance, there is no real improvement. The first 200mtrs stink of urine. I think the portable toilets are neither a good idea nor plumbed correctly/cleaned, the safety railing at a couple of drop points is missing and there is no guard at the lookout to prevent high spirited tourists from jumping the fence. So, although I'm okay because I know I'm going for the view I know, I think first time tourists may be disappointed with the overall shabby upkeep of a place of natural beauty. On a positive note, I was delighted to see that there is no longer plastic litter. Thanks to the department for this plus point.

This is a good view point in Gudalur-Ooty road near to Gudalur. The sharp shape of the view point gives it the name Needle point. There’s an entry fee of ₹20, the ticket counter is on the other side across the road. That side has a small snacks shop and a children’s play area. The view point is around 500 meters away from main road, need to walk in a low to moderately steep slope. The walkway is paved mostly making it convenient to reach the top view point. View point gives 360 degree view of the nearby plantations, tea estates, frog hill, Gudalur town and Mudhumali forest. There are few mobile toilets setup but most not functional and remaining are not maintained properly. There are no drinking water stations. Few stone benches put up at the entrance. At the top most point statue of a Nilgiri Tahr (Varayadu) is setup. It’s the state animal of Tamilnadu. There’s a photographer for taking instant photos with nice background during summer season

Awesome view point, must visit place, I have never seen this view in tamilnadu, really wonderful, especially from Ooty to needle rock view point road is good , mostly foggy road, drive slow, but less parking place. if you are going with kids please do take care of them. Nice place for nature lovers. Almost 320 degrees view in the middle of the forest. Located almost 46 kilometres from Ooty. Driving road conditions are good enough, it's a Mysore Ooty highway. Easily findable place, located in vest curve road. Surely I will recommend it to everyone. One of the best view point . Such a calm and cool place.

Needle Rock Viewpoint offers an unparalleled vista that captivates the soul. As I ascended the winding roads, anticipation mingled with excitement, and upon reaching the viewpoint, I was greeted by a breathtaking panorama that stretched as far as the eye could see. Perched atop a lofty hill, Needle Rock provides a bird's-eye view of the surrounding lush valleys, verdant tea estates, and mist-covered mountains. The sight is simply awe-inspiring, invoking a sense of wonder at the sheer magnificence of nature's beauty. The cool breeze gently caressed my skin as I stood there, absorbing the tranquility of the surroundings. The tranquility of the surroundings was soothing to the senses, offering a much-needed escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. Photography enthusiasts will find themselves in paradise, with every angle presenting a picture-perfect moment waiting to be captured. Whether it's the golden hues of sunrise or the ethereal charm of sunset, each moment offers a new perspective on the mesmerizing landscape. Facilities at the viewpoint are minimal, but that only adds to its rustic charm. Visitors can savor the simplicity of nature while relishing a hot cup of chai from the local vendors, adding a touch of warmth to the experience. However, it's worth noting that the roads leading to Needle Rock can be narrow and winding, so caution is advised, especially for those prone to motion sickness. Additionally, visiting during peak tourist seasons may result in crowds, so planning an early morning or late afternoon trip can ensure a more intimate experience with nature. Overall, Needle Rock Viewpoint is a gem hidden amidst the hills of Gudalur, offering a tranquil retreat for those seeking solace in the embrace of nature's splendor. Whether you're a seasoned traveler or a nature enthusiast, this picturesque spot is sure to leave an indelible mark on...

Once you reach the peak, its a needle point as you can view app 360 degrees nature surrounding you, great place and amazing view..its man made small view point building, you will get cool breeze from all round..

This place needs around 20 to 30 mints of mild up hill walking, if you do not have any issue with walking and knee issues, any age person can visot this place..

You will not get water dispensaries or washrooms pr wheelchair facilities here.
