Pavalamalai Muthukumaraswamy Temple

This hill top temple dedicated to Lord Murugan is located at Pavalamalai a small hillock at Gobichettipalayam in Tamilnadu about 3 km fro the town.

It can be approached by way of trekking up about 200 steps or by a vehicle via a road that takes one till the courtyard of the temple.

One can get good views of the town of Gobichettipalayam. It is better to visit early mornings or late evenings to avoid the sun and also since the temple is closed during the day time.

The temple has traditional Tamil temple architecture with colourful gopuram studded with stuccos featuring mythological figures. There is a flag post with interesting carvings at its base.

It has a peaceful atmosphere as visitors and only few on most days. One can relax and meditate here.

At the base of the hill is also a shrine dedicated to Lord Murugan.

Parking is available at the hill top.

Many of the readers might have heard about Kutrala Kuravanji, which is included in many of the Bharathanatyam concerts. This was the creation of a famous Tamil poet, Thirikooda Rasappa Kavirayar. It speaks about the life of a group of gypsies, called Kuravas. They are believed to be nomads with a pure, sinless life. When they sing about their native place in this poem, they say “ Pachamalai Pavalamalai Engal Naadu, Parameswaran vazhum malai Engal Naadu “( We are natives of Pachamalai and Pavalamalai and that is also the abode of Shiva ). Hence the joint pilgrimage of these two hills. As indicated in one of the write ups, there is a belief that this place was ruled by King Pari, one of the Kadayezhu Vallals ( seven...

# Pavalamalai is an ancient Murugan temple. # Both Pacha Malai and Pavala Malal were constructed by the ancient sage Durvasa. # We can reach the hill temple either by steps or by road. # Powerful Trisathai Pooja is held here every Tuesday Morning at 7 AM. # Small parking place available in front of the temple. # The temple is currently undergoing renovation work.

Divine power and calming place. Any problem, one solution - அப்பனே முருகா 🙏🏻 🌼 Enough space to park 10+ four wheelers and two wheelers. You can take steps or road to reach the Lord. Very less steps to climb. Good view from the top. Temple is very clean and spacious with the views.
