Sitharkadu Sivan Temple near Poonamallee is an ancient Shiva temple located in Sitharkadu village (around 8 km from Poonamallee, Chennai). The main deity is Lord Shiva as Dhatreeswarar (Nelliyappar) and the goddess is Prasunakunthalambigai (Poonkuzhali Ambal). The temple is known for its peaceful atmosphere and is especially auspicious for those born under the Swathi Nakshatra. Built by Pandya king Jatavarman Sundara Pandya I in the 13th century, the temple has Chola and Nayak-style architecture with a 5-tier gopuram and stone mandapam. Siddhar statues and carvings inside the temple suggest it was a place of worship for sages (Siddhars). It is open daily from 8–10:30 AM and 5–7 PM. A nearby Vishnu temple (Sundararaja Perumal) also attracts visitors.

One of the very oldest shivan temples located in chithukadu where you can feel the divine. Which is near Nemilicherry bypass, you can prefer a bike or car to reach the temple. No direct bus available.
