Main deity: Dhaathreeswarar (Nelliappar) & Prasunakunthalambigai - in sanskrit Dhaathri meaning Amla (Nelli) as once this devotional place was sorrounded with many dhaathri trees.
This temple was worshipped and tapas done by many rishis and siddhars...Paddukai jadaamudi siddhar, Prana Deepika Siddhar still their carvings found inside temple pillars next to ambal sanidhi and nadhi statue pillars.

This King found the Amman idol in the flower garden. Since the area was a lush forest with sweet smelling flowers, the place came to be known as Thiru manam (Thiru - sacred & manam - pleasant good smell). Here nandhi bhagwan doesn't posses rope on nose as it is in any other temple because it is shanta Swaroop nandhi.
