Sadasiva was born to a Telugu couple Moksha Somasundara Avadhaani and Parvati. His initial name was Sivaramakrishna. He was married at the age of 17. Sadasiva lived in Kumbakonam, near Tamil Nadu in the 17th to 18th century. Two other prominent Hindu saints Sridhara Venkatesa Ayyaval and Sri Bodhendra Saraswathi were his classmates in the veda school. He left his home in search of Truth. After taking sannyasa, he is said to have wandered around, naked or semi-naked, and often in a trance-like state. He was reclusive and often meditated, and was described as being in a "supremely intoxicated state".[3] He is said to have performed many miracles whilst alive, some of the most prominent are provided below. His jiva samadhi site is briefly mentioned in 'Autobiography of a Yogi' by Paramahamsa Yogananda.

On the river banks of Cauvery in Mahadhanapuram, he was asked by some children to be taken to Madurai, more than 100 miles away, for an annual festival. The saint asked them to close their eyes, and a few seconds later they reopened their eyes and found they were in Madurai. He also wrote the Atma Vidya Vilasa, an advaitic work. There is an epilogue to this story. The next day, another youth, incredulous at hearing this story, asked Sadasiva to take him also to this festival. It is said that the youth immediately found himself in the distant city. When it was time to return, Sadasiva was nowhere to be found. The youth had to make his way back on foot. Whilst relaxing near a heap of grains, he began meditating. The farmer who owned the land mistook Sadasiva for a thief, and confronted him. The farmer raised his stick to hit the saint, but became a statue. He remained in this state until the morning, when Sadasiva finished meditating and smiled at the farmer. The farmer was restored to his normal state, and asked the saint for forgiveness.

At another time, while meditating on the banks of the Cauvery river, he was carried away by a sudden flood. Weeks later, when some villagers were digging near a mound of earth, their shovels struck his body. He woke up and walked away.[5] Long after all these happened when almost people had forgotten the memories of his wandering in their lands, once the naked sannyasi was seen walking right through a Muslim harem of a Nawab. As a brahma-jnani who sees nothing but brahman everywhere, he would not distinguish between the different human figures which cross his path nor would he be distracted by the sights or noises that his environment may present to him. It was in this state of trance that he was walking along. He, the naked sannyasi, walked straight into the harem, entering it at one end and walking out at the other all the while walking through a maze of inmates of the...

A must visit place for any spiritual aspirant. Devotees come from all parts of India to have darshan of this "Samaadhi Sthal" of the 17th Century Avadhoota Saint HH Sri Sadashiva Brahmendra Swamigalu who was the desciple of HH Sri Paramashivendra. He is the only Saint who gets worshipped by the Jagadgurugalus of Sringeri Sharada Peetam, though He does not belong to it's Guruparamparaa. Nerur is on the banks of Cauvery river and the Saint has wandered all over this place as an Avadhoota Guru. He took Sajeeva Samadhi here and His prediction of a Bilwa tree growing over the Samadhi Sthal and a person would bring a "Baana Lingam" from Kashi (Vaaranaasi) and that it should be consecrated about 12 feet distance from His Samadhi, came true. That Bilwa plant grew up to be a huge tree and it is worshipped even now as the Avadhoota Guru who took expression of a Bilwa tree that represents the "Trigunaateeta" Nirguna form of Brahman or Ishwara. The Baana Lingam was also consecrated and a temple built for it by the then King sri Raghunatha Thondaiman. When we enter the premises we first encounter the Kaashi Vishweshwara temple where this Baana Lingam is housed and adjacent to it is Sri Kashi Vishalakshi temple. Behind these two temples is the Samadhi Sthal. Behind it on the wall is inscribed the Sri Sadashiva Pancharatna Stotram that was composed by the 33rd Sringeri Peetadhishwara HH Sri Shivabhinava Nrisimha Bharati Swamiji. Another long sthuti on Sri Sadashiva Brahmendraru, composed by the same Jagadguru is also inscribed on a black stone in golden letters, mounted on the wall. There is an idol of Sri Dakshinamurthy and also a Vinayaka idol in two small temple structures there itself. A Sri Chandikeshwara, Sri Kalabhairavar and Surya-Chandra idols are also present. A priest is always present there to do archana Seva. Books in Kannada and English on the Life History of Sri Sadashiva Brahmendraru, books containing His Carnatic Music Compositions are displayed at the entrance and are for sale. Every year from Vaishaka Shukla Panchami to Dashami Aaraadhanaa Mahotsava of Sri Brahmendra Swamigalu takes place in Nerur. Lots n lots of Bhaktaas descend on Nerur at that time. Close to the Samadhi Sthala, in an agrahaaram, there are Sringeri Shankaramutt branch, Kanchi Shankaramutt branch located. There is also a private ashrama of HH Sri Vidyashankara Saraswathi Swamiji where Lord Lakshmi Narasimha idol was consecrated last year by HHs Sringeri Acharyas. You may go and have Swamy darshan. One visit to Nerur is not sufficient. We feel like making more and more trips, to go there, sit in that calm, peaceful atmosphere, do dhyaan and japa and get blessed by the...

Dear All,

Read all the reviews, Its truly a spectacular temple, very peaceful, priests are very humble.

I m writing nthing against the saint whose jeeva samadhi is situated. I am writin this to bring up a very serious concern of the ashrama swamiji and his manager. They both pretend to be your well wishers and sympathise of your bad time and will sure suggest u the pooja with anna dhanam (ofcourse annadhanam is Mahadhanam) to poor which we thought is a good thing to donate a certain amount of money in our family and our new born Child's name. They instructed us to transfer funds online aling with our Names, DOB and TOB. So they shall conduct the pooja as promised and the annadhanam. Soon after we did as per ther instructions and money tranfer, niether the swamiji nor the manager mr bala wanted recognize who we were we introduced ourselves atleast 4times over the call.

And finally the swamiji hands the call to his Mnger Mr Bala for further instructions, the instructions were :- Swamiji has to come to Bangalore to do the pooja (which was not the case when we met him personally) Swamiji will stay in a separate AC room, dat must arranged by us Swamiji will only travel in AC car through and fro. Bear somemore expenses of the pooja.

These men are cheating ppl in the name of the saint and maligning the ashram and its purpose. By the time we realised it was too late and we are stil awaiting our refund from "THE SWAMIJI" who texts in English.

Moral of the story - Please do not share your personal details to these fake God men. They are capable of...

Sadashiva Brahmendra Ashram is a sacred place located on the banks of the Cauvery River, approximately 10 kilometers from Karur District. It includes a temple dedicated to Lord Kashi Viswanathan. Lord Shiva is believed to have appeared in the form of a Vilva tree at this site, witnessed by the sage. The sage then developed this place into the famous ashram it is today. It is believed that performing a pooja at the Vilva tree can cure diseases, and the place is also known to bring peace of mind. A meditation hall is available on the premises. Additionally, there are two independent organizations within the ashram grounds: one associated with the sage and another with Kailasa. Visitors are free to visit either or both.
