Telescope house, Doddabetta — Attraction in Tamil Nadu

Tamilnadu’s Highest peak. The telescopes are not working right now. Way from dodabetta check point upto here is through beautiful jungle. The peak has a entry ticket of 10 rs and token for vehicle is also taken at the check point.

• Located first floor of in the tower. We need to go by stairs to reach top.

• But from the tower you directly view both coonoor and Ooty scenic view.

• Via Telescopes just you can see the coonoor road very close nothing else😐

The temperature at the Doddabetta peak is mostly low. There is telescope house at the peak so one can enjoy the birds eye view of Ooty and surrounding hills. You can reach to the peak by road. Entry fee per person is 10₹.

At the top of the mountain. Feel like heaven especially in a cool climate. You can see Coonoor town from there. A telescope available in a tower. You can see the Coonoor bus stand through the telescope. Large private vehicles like tempo travellers will not allow to enter the top during rush times. Private jeeps and buses will be there. Only a little walkway to reach.

On the slope of Doddabeta peak, there is a beautiful botanical garden. This is must visit place to its uniqueness and variety of plants this garden has.

Doddabetta is the highest mountain in the Nilgiri Mountains at 2,637 metres (8,652 feet).

There is an observatory at the top of Doddabetta with two telescopes available for the public. It was opened on 18 June 1983 and is run by the Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation (TTDC). The average number of viewers in 2001-2002 was 3500 per day in season and 700 per day in the off season.
