One of the best and cleanest beaches you can see in Chennai. I've lived here for the past 22 years and I totally love this beach. Not overly crowded. The weekends are pretty crowded but not too much. Mostly it's just families having a picnic or friends having a get together. They have a police station in the beach and police officer will be there most of the time. From Friday to Sunday, they have barricades and a lot of police officers and securities stationed all around the place. The shops are not lined up in the shore. Instead they are all in the pavements outside. They have benches through out the Bay Area for people to sit. You can go walking or jogging without having to worry about vehicle disturbances. The lighting is great. There are trash cans installed everywhere. They play music and warnings over the speakers during weekend. A really decent beach with great maintenance by Walker's association. I can just go on and on about this beach. There are also restrooms that has been installed in one end of the beach that is cleaned everyday. My most favourite hang out spot in Chennai.

During my visit to this beach at sunrise, the sky was a bit cloudy, obscuring the sun's view. Despite the overcast conditions, the weather was pleasant. Like every other beaches commonly found in Chennai, this one shared the challenge of not being as tidy. However, it stood out by being less crowded, offering a more peaceful environment. While the clouds played hide-and-seek with the sunrise, the beach emanated a tranquil vibe. It's essential to note that cleanliness issues seem to be a common concern across Chennai's city beaches, and this one is no exception. Nevertheless, if you're in search of a beach experience with fewer crowds, this spot provides a quieter retreat. Despite not witnessing a clear sunrise, the calm and serene ambiance makes it a potential haven for those seeking a more relaxed time by the shore. In the midst of the urban hustle, this beach offers a respite, allowing visitors to enjoy the soothing sound of waves without the usual bustling beach crowd.

Marina Beach is a natural urban beach in the city of Chennai (Madras), India, along the Bay of Bengal.[1] The beach runs from near Fort St. George in the north to Foreshore Estate in the south, a distance of 6.0 km (3.7 mi),[2] making it the longest natural urban beach in the country and one of the world's longest beach ranking with 1.[3][4][5] The Marina is primarily sandy, unlike the short, rocky formations that make up the Juhu Beach in Mumbai. The average width of the beach is 300 m (980 ft)[6]and the width at the widest stretch is 437 m (1,434 ft). Bathing and swimming at the Marina Beach are legally prohibited because of the dangers, as the undercurrent is very turbulent. It is one of the most crowded beaches in the country and attracts about 30,000 visitors a day during weekdays[7] and 50,000 visitors a day during the weekends and on holidays.[8][9][10] During summer months, about 1,50,000 to 2,00,000 people visit the beach daily.[11]

It's a small and calm beach situated not far away from Adayar and Thiruvanmiyur bus depot. The beach stretch less than 2 km is one of the ideal place to spend some value time with family on weekends. Cars are not allowed inside the road near beach, so road will be less congested only with two wheelers. Many benches are laid facing the sea. Lot of stalls are available in the food street that serves variety of food from pani poori to chicken wraps, Burmese athos to ice creams. Games are available to keep kids entertained. It's a good place to take pets. Police booth is available on one end of beach and patrolling is there, so it's relatively safe place. Weekend evenings will be heavily crowded. Toilets are maintained clean as possible. Many dust bins are installed in beach sand and every effort is taken to keep the place neat and tidy. if you are visiting, please leave nothing there other than your foot prints. Thank you.

this beach is other end of the ECR road. and one can have good time here in the Evening or Morning. There is nothing much to see here other than regular Beach view Over time Marina and Elliots have become so crowded, filthy and commercial and Mahabalipuram being no different, we really lost interest in Chennai beaches. This beach has come as a savior. Clean and neat. Less crowd and decent crowd. Fewer shops in the beach sand. Eateries have been well regulated outside the beach and all of them look reasonably hygienic. Thiruvanmiyur Beach is a very small beach. It located very near to the residential area of Thiruvanmiyur. The beach is clean and there is very little commercialization due to lack of poor visitors. It is a local refreshment area for the nearby local people.very well maintained beach , has flood lights for nights , food stalls at beach road. very pleasant beach

It's more than two decades... I have witnessed the beach slowly getting commercialized. Earlier: Pure sand Olive Ridley used to hatch eggs Can find Catamaran & Small Boats Green carpet of Weeds Good amount of free space Play football, volleyball, practice karate etc., Very clean without any plastic waste Now: Not so pure sand No Olive ridley's Traffic congestion, Parking congestion Too much of people Plastic wastes and other wastes found despite regular cleaning All these days one thing never changed is my love for this beach. Still it's good for morning walk. A very good walkway is provided. A well managed walking association is actively working towards the integrity of beach. Kids are still getting excited to play in this beach. It's our turn to actually give it back to beach, by keeping it clean, traffic free and pollution free.
