Wonderful beautiful temple. Perumal (Thiruooraga perumal) in standing posture, facing west. Rajagopuram facing west. Kodimaram present. Thayar having separate sannadhi facing east.

Had a wonderful and beautiful darshan of the perumal who was standing alone and as usual fully decorated and decked with flowers and gold.

For a king sake perumal gave darshan similar to how he is Tirupathi. The lord appeared in the kings dream and told him to come to Kanchipuram, but the king ended up in kundrathur, and he himself was in doubt whether he had come to the correct place, but the lord again came in his dream and said he was in the right place, and though he is seen on a serpent he is still thiruooraga perumal.

To thank the lord the king started to build the temple here in kundrathur, but again the lord gave darshan to the king as he was in Tirupathi, hence the idol is similar to the lord in Tirupathi (standing alone posture).

The older rajagopuram which was in a bad state, was demolished and a new one built in its place, and strangely this rajagopuram looks different, same like rajagopuram of Devikapuram. Looks stunted at the top. The construction from the bottom clearly shows plans for more tiers, may be one or two tiers more, but it has been stopped short for some reason, and the kalasams are placed on the top.

Here too people doing namaskaram in the wrong direction, they have forgotten that perumal is standing facing West, but still people are falling the wrong way, with their heads facing south.

Wonderful temple, definitely a must visit if you are...

Lord Perumal in His standing form blesses the devotees from the sanctum sanctorum. Those facing adverse effects of the planets and serpent aspects pray in the temple on the respective planet days offering vastras to Lord and Mother. Kancheepuram is west of this place so that it may see this temple face to face. That was the plan of the king. Mother Thiruvirundavalli shrine is facing east. Vaikunda Ekadasi is celebrated in December-January for a day only when Lord will pass through the Sorgavasal. Perumal grants darshan to devotees on Garuda Vahan on the 4th Saturday of Purattasi month-September-October. Lord-Mother wedding festival is celebrated on the Rohini star day in Panguni-March-April.

King Kulothunga had a spell. He could not get cured though he visited many temples. Lord. Vishnu appeared in his dream as an aged man and asked him to visit Kancheepuram where He was as Thiru Ooraga Perumal. The king came to this place but found Perumal on the divine serpent Adisesha in His reclining form. He had a doubt whether he came to the right place. He stayed for a night there. Lord again appeared in his dream and said that He was in the place as Ooraga Perumal on Adisesha. The king was happy, worshipped Perumal and got relieved of the spell,

As a mark of his gratitude to Lord, he built the temple here. During the construction, Perumal granted darshan to the king as Tirupati Venkatachalapathy. The idol therefore is a replica of Tirupati Perumal in a standing form. Lord was named Thiru...

This temple dedicated to Srinivasa Perumal is located close to the famed Murugan temple in Kundrathur. The main deity is a majestic and tall Perumal sculpted and decorated similar to Lord of the 7 hills, Venkatachalapathy. The temple complex is vast and peaceful. The temple is believed to be around 1000 years old and to be originally constructed by King Kulothungan, when his prayers around his health and well-being were answered. The temple opens around 5:15 in the evening, Google however indicates 4pm.
