Tiger Falls is often talked about as a tourist spot, but in reality, it’s quite a small waterfall. You’ll see just a stream of water trickling down from the rocks rather than a powerful fall. If you go with the expectation of a big scenic waterfall, you might feel underwhelmed. One of the biggest downsides is the crowd. On weekends and holidays, the place becomes extremely busy, and the charm of sitting peacefully by the falls is lost in the rush. Parking and vehicle entry are not managed well, which makes the whole experience tiring even before reaching the spot. There are a few small shops nearby selling snacks and refreshments, which is convenient if you’re spending some time there. However, the lack of proper facilities and organization makes the place feel a bit chaotic. Read moreSMALLER, BUT GREENER FALLS WORTH VISITNG ONLY IN MONSOON: Of the several falls available in Courtallam (also called Kutralam) in Southern Tamil Nadu, Tiger falls is a smaller one, located in a more picturesque area, in the lap of the Western Ghats. In terms of its location, it is on the way (from city centre of Courtallam) to another falls called Shenbagha Devi falls. Owing to more gentle flow, the falls can be safely used by senior citizens and children. The water of Tiger falls is supposed to possess medicinal properties as the water has flown through the Western Ghats which are rich in medicinal herbs. A tank has been provided near the cascading water, again offering more safe bathing facilities. Compared to the other falls, the Tiger falls is visited by fewer number of people, and is therefore less crowded. This place is worth visiting in monsoon months.
