Rettai Aruvi is one of the most unique and hidden tourist gems in the district. Tucked away in the deep forests of the Western Ghats, it lies behind the famous Pechiparai and Manimutharu dams. The journey itself is an adventure ā the road ride to the falls is filled with mesmerizing scenery, thick green forests, and fresh mountain air. However, travelers should remain cautious, as elephants and other wild animals are sometimes spotted along the way, especially for those going by bike.
What makes Rettai Aruvi truly special is its very name ā āRettaiā meaning twin. The waterfall splits and flows in two parallel streams, creating a magical sight and chilling the air with refreshing mist. Standing close to the falls, youāll feel an instant wave of coolness that clears your mind and body. Itās not just a tourist spot, but an experience that feels like stepping deep into untouched forest land.
To reach Rettai Aruvi, you must first obtain an entry ticket at the Forest Department check post near Pechiparai Dam. From there, the route continues towards Kothaiyaar. Along the way, travelers are treated to the sight of smaller waterfalls that look stunning in their own right, as well as a few small tea shops where you can pause for a refreshing break. From Kothaiyaar, the real adventure begins ā a forest route of about 7 to 9 kilometers, leading deeper into natureās lap.
Visiting Rettai Aruvi is not just about seeing a waterfall; itās about living a moment that stays with you. The blend of raw forest beauty, hidden trails, and the grandeur of the twin falls makes this place unforgettable.
