Uttan Beach, located near Bhayandar and just a short drive from Mumbai, is a quiet coastal retreat known for its scenic beauty and relaxed atmosphere. Here’s an overview of what to expect:

Highlights of Uttan Beach

Peaceful Ambiance: Unlike the busier Juhu or Versova beaches, Uttan Beach is less commercialized and less crowded, making it ideal for those looking for a peaceful escape. The beach has a calm and laid-back vibe, perfect for unwinding away from city noise.

Scenic Beauty: Uttan Beach offers a picturesque view with its clean sand, rocky outcrops, and surrounding hills. The sunsets here are beautiful, providing a stunning backdrop for photography. Nearby fishing villages also add to the scenic charm with colorful boats and traditional coastal life.

Fishing Villages and Culture: The area is home to a local fishing community, which gives visitors a glimpse of the traditional Koli lifestyle. Early morning visits are great for watching the fishermen set out to sea or return with their catch, adding an authentic feel to the experience.

Seafood: The beach area has small shacks and eateries where you can find fresh and delicious seafood. The nearby Koli village offers traditional coastal cuisine, which is a highlight for food lovers looking to taste authentic, locally sourced dishes.

Trekking and Nature Walks: Uttan is also close to Gorai and Manori, areas known for nature trails and coastal treks. It’s a great spot for people interested in exploring nearby hills or enjoying nature walks along the coast.

Facilities and Maintenance

Being less commercialized, Uttan Beach doesn’t have many tourist facilities, so it’s a good idea to bring essentials. The beach is generally clean, though some areas could use better maintenance. There are no dedicated changing or restroom facilities, so plan accordingly.

Activities

While Uttan isn’t designed for typical beach sports, it’s great for quiet activities like walking along the shore, collecting shells, or enjoying a seaside picnic. Swimming isn’t highly recommended here due to the rocky areas and lack of lifeguards.

Best Time to Visit

The winter months from November to February are ideal for visiting, as the weather is cooler and more comfortable for a beach outing. Monsoons, while scenic, can make the beach muddy and more challenging to access.

Overall Experience

Uttan Beach is a great choice for those seeking a tranquil beach day near Mumbai, with scenic views and a taste of the local fishing culture. It’s especially suited for families or couples looking for a quiet spot to enjoy the sea and the slower pace of...

And for dining, one should visit "Cafe Serene" it's a beautiful resturant and fun place to visit but little costly. Currently all the resort and dining is closed near the beach.

An isolated coastal location of Mumbai North Suburban is this less frequented beach at Uttan village of Bhayander station in North suburban. If you are a seafood lover, then this beach is a perfect place for day picnic and worth a night stay at resorts around. Varieties of fresh fishes like Prawns, Bombil, Bangara, Pomfret and Chala fish right from Uttan beach daily catch by local village fishermens is available at major resorts and restaurants. The fishes can be seen drying along the coastal roads & on bamboo stick frames.

Google Review # 000146. This is what JUHU beach could have looked like 20 yrs ago, a rocky beach though... with less crowd, less shops and definitely less dirt. There are lifeguards monitoring the activities, motor boats and scooter boats to thrill you... (not sure about their approvals from competent authorities) The beach has a long shoreline, where you can take a peaceful stroll and unwind. The place is crowded on weekends and Fridays. So, pl avoid evening visits on these days. Date of Experience : August 2018.
