पुराने समय में सहारनपुर के इस पवित्र स्थान पर तीन संत एक साथ रहा करते थे संत गरीबदास जी महाराज, संत लाल दास जी महाराज, और हाजी शाह जी। तीनों संतों में घनिष्ठ मित्रता थी, संतलाल दास जी रोज अपनी सिद्ध शक्ति से हरिद्वार पर गंगा नदी में स्नान करने जाया करते थे, परंतु एक बार लाल दास जी अस्वस्थ हो गए और स्नान करने ना जा पाए और बहुत दुखी हुए, तो संत गरीबदास जी महाराज उनके पास पहुंचे, और उनके दुख का कारण पूछा तो संतलाल दास जी ने बताया कि उनका एक नियम है कि वह प्रतिदिन गंगा घाट पर गंगा नदी में स्नान करने जाते हैं, परंतु आज अस्वस्थ होने के कारण वहा नहीं जा पाएंगे, तो गरीब दास जी महाराज ने उन्हें आश्वासन दिया की आप दुखी ना हो, और कहा कि कल सुबह प्रातः काल गंगा नदी यही आ जाएगी और ठीक ऐसा ही हुआ, अगले दिन संत गरीबदास जी महाराज ने अपनी शक्ति से सहारनपुर की पवित्र भूमि पर गंगा नही को प्रकट किया, जो सहारनपुर में आज पाओ धोई नदी के नाम से विख्यात है। लाल दास जी महाराज के बाडे के पास कुछ ही दूरी पर संत गरीबदास जी महाराज जी की यादगार रूप में एक समाधि बनी हुई है। महाराज गरीबदास जी का प्राकाट्य सन् 1717 व विक्रमी संवत 1774 को वैसाख उतरते की पूर्णिमा के दिन ब्रह्ममहूर्त में श्री बलराम जी के घर माता रानी की कोख से गाँव छुड़ानी, जिला झज्जर, प्राँत हरियाणा में हुआ। विक्रमी संवत 1784 में बन्दी छोड़ कबीर साहेब (कविर्देव) ने सतलोक से आकर महाराज जी को दर्शन व दीक्षा दी। जब महाराज जी गऊ चराने के लिए कबलाना गाँव की तरफ लगभग डेढ़ किलोमीटर दूर खेतों में गए हुए थे। जिसे नल्ला कहते हैं। महाराज जी के छः संतान थी - चार लड़के और दो लड़िकयाँ। आप जी ने विक्रमी संवत् 1835 (सन् 1778) भादवा मास (भाद्र) की शुक्ल पक्ष की द्वितिया (दूज) को सतलोक गवन किया। गाँव-छुड़ानी में आप जी के शरीर का अंतिम संस्कार कर दिया गया। उस पर एक यादगार छतरी साहेब बनी हुई है। इसके बाद उसी शरीर में प्रकट होकर (वही आयु 61 वर्ष की) सहारनपुर (उत्तर-प्रदेश) में 35 वर्ष रहे। वहाँ भी आपके नाम से यादगार छतरी साहेब बनाई हुई है। चिलकाना रोड़ से कलसिया सड़क निकलती है, उस पर आधा कि.मी. चलकर बांई तरफ यादगार बनी है। पास में ही श्री लालदास जी महाराज का प्रसिद्ध बाड़ा है। जो संसार में प्रत्यक्ष प्रमाण है कि परमात्मा बिना माँ के भी शरीर में आ सकते हैं।

It was historical place, In past there was two friends Haaji Shah and Lal das. Haaji Shah was Muslim and Lal das was hindu , both are very close friends . When Haaji Shah went to Haj In Arab , Lal Das became very sad and when Lal das went to Haridwar , Haaji Shah became sad . One day Lal das said to Haaji Shah if I will make your same Masjid like in Arab then will you Stop to go there . Haaji Shah said yes ofcourse . Lad das made Same Masjid like in Arab in night with his tapasya .. Next day Haaji Shah became very happy , and he thought I should also do something for Lal das so he will not have to go to Haridwar. Then he also did one majic with his power that he earned from Nawaj .. He brought Ganga ji at same place that river called pawn dhoi( foot cleaner) . Because when Lal das was in samdhi river touch his feet to awak him so that river called Pawn dhoi . So after that Both friends will not go to Haridwar and Arab. They live together ..

Now a day at this Place Mr. Ajay Gupta( Business Man) is doing the construction to make Big Akshardhaam Mandir ..

Last five years 24 hours construction is going on ..thousand of workers daily are doing work to complete...

Baba Lal Das ka Bada - the way it is referred to in Hindi is a religious campus having various structures built in holy memory of late saint Baba Lal Das on the right bank of Paondhoi river. The legend has it that Baba Lal Das, an ascetic lived in a hut here some 3 centuries earlier. For his daily prayers, he needed to have a purifying dip in the holy Ganga. Pleased with his determination and devotion, Goddess Ganga blessed Baba Lal Dass with a fresh stream of herself which came to be known as Paondhoi Ganga. A fair is organised here every year on the day of vaishakhi - 13th April. People come here for a holy bath and specially for first ceremonial shaving of the head of their neonates (mundan ceremony). Since Paondhoi river is too much polluted and is unfit for bath these days, Nagar Nigam Saharanpur, on the day of baisakhi, arranges a water tanker from Haridwar and connects it to the temporary taps on the ghat of the river so that devotees may take a bath...

Saharanpur remembers its great saint Baba Lal Das is known as the Bhagirath who brought a stream of Ganga to Saharanpur through his prayers. As the 300 years old story goes, Baba Lal Das or popularly known as Bawa Lal Dyal whose samadhi is situated at Dhyanpur, Punjab, an ascetic, staying in Saharanpur had to visit Haridwar daily to pay his tribute to Mother Ganga before he ate anything.
