फैजाबाद। अयोध्या से करीब 5 किलोमीटर पश्चिम दक्षिण फैजाबाद शहर मे देवकाली माता का एक अत्यन्त ही भव्य प्राचीन मन्दिर स्थित है। इस प्राचीन मंदिर बड़ी देवकाली माता के विषय में कहा जाता है कि,ये भगवान श्री राम की कुल देवी हैं। इस प्रकार तो यही मानना पड़ेगा कि माता की मूर्ति भगवान् श्री राम के जन्म से भी बहुत पूर्व की है । श्री राम का जन्म महा प्रतापी सम्राट इक्ष्वाकु कुल में हुआ था। महाराज इक्ष्वाकु श्री राम की कई पीढियों के पूर्व के थे । इस प्रकार माता की मूर्ति की स्थापना राजा इक्ष्वाकु के समय का मान लिया जाय तो माता की मूर्ति अत्यन्त प्राचीन सिद्ध होती है ।  मंदिर परिसर का विशालकाय भवन कराता है ऐतिहासिकता का परिचय मन्दिर का मुख्य प्रवेश द्वार मुख्य सड़क से बिल्कुज सटा हुआ है।द्वार ऊँचा है और इसकी दोनो ओर दो शेर बैठे हैं ओर मध्य में एक मनुष्याकृति बनी हुई है अन्दर लम्बी दूरी तय करने पर माता का पुनः एक दूसरा प्रवेष द्वार दिखाई पड़ता है । इस द्वार पर एक बड़ा भारी पीतल का घण्टा लटकता दिखाई पड़ता है। माता के सच्चे दरवार में पहॅुचने के पहले हर कोई धण्टा जरुर बजाता है । घण्टे की  घनघनाहट से सारा मन्दिर गुंजायमान हो उठता है । सम्पूर्ण वातावरण भक्तिमय हो उठता है। हाते के अन्दर एक बहुत बड़ा कुंड है । यह अत्यन्त ही रमणीय एवं दर्शनीय है कुंड की सुरक्षा अत्यन्त ही यत्न पूर्वक की गई है । माताजी का पूरा मन्दिर संगमर्मर का बना हुआ है। गर्भगष्ह में प्रवेश करने के पूर्व  मुख्य द्वार पर भी एक बड़ा भारी पीतल का घण्टा लटका हुआ है। गर्भगष्ह के अन्दर प्रवेश करने के पूर्व इसे भी बजाना पड़ता है । गर्भगृह के अन्दर प्रवेश करने पर माता के साक्षात् दर्शन होते हैं। कहा जाता है कि ऐसी प्रतिमा विश्व मे कहीं  भी नहीं देखी गई है । क्योंकि इस मूर्ति की खास विशेषता यह है कि, एक ही शीलापट् पर तीन महाशैिक्तयों का संगम है । महालक्ष्मी,महाकाली एवं महासरस्वती की प्रतिमा तीनों एक साथ ही विराजित हैं ,जो अद्भूत् एवं अलौकिक दृश्य उत्पन्न करता है । मन्दिर का गर्भ गृह गोलाकार में है इसकी छत पर गुम्बद बना हुआ है और उस पर माता का लाल ध्वज फहराता रहता है । यह पूरा कमरा प्राचीन शैली में बना हुआ है |
