Essay on “A Visit to a Temple” Complete Essay for Class 10, Class 12 and Graduation and other classes.

A Visit to a Temple

A temple has a special place in Indian Hindu life. It is an exclusive place where people go to worship, to pay their thanks to some Overseeing power for His bounties and blessings.

There was a time when education was imparted in temples but it was purely religious.

It is my routine to visit a temple. On the day of a festival I went to a temple early in the morning. The temple was humming with activities. The priest was worshipping the gods and goddesses with a lighted lamp. He was humming some holy hymns. When the singing of praise of idols was over he gave ‘prasad’ to the devotees who- had gathered there to have the glimpse of gods and goddesses. Thereafter, sermons began. A priest rendered a sweet but gloomy song telling the realities of the mundane world. The head priest spoke on God, life and soul. Devotees listened to the song and discourse with their eyes closed and occasionally clapping their hands.

As the time passed people began to pour in with sweets, flowers and fruits. They placed their offerings at the altar, bowed and sat down to count the beads. Many devotees pushed currency notes and coins in the iron chest. Like other devotees I touched each image with my hands which I also applied to my eyes and then took a few rounds of the images. Almost all rang the bells hanging from the ceiling. They sat on the mats to pray.

When I came out of the temple, I saw a large number of beggars asking for alms. There was a great commotion. Two or three dogs were also there to get something to eat. I had something from a roadside eatery and again entered the temple. Stream of the devotees was as usual. I touched the images and without taking an about-turn I came out of the temple room and started for home on bare foot because someone had stolen my shoes.

Temple is really a place where one can have some moments of peace and tranquility. People visit temple to pray to God to fulfill their desires. Temple is a place where man really starts believing that he is mortal and he must do some good deeds to find a place at the feet of the Almighty.

Kushmi Jangal, also known locally as Kushmi Forest or “Kushmi Jungle,” lies about 9 km from Gorakhpur Railway Station and just beyond the air‑force station . This serene spot is a favourite day‑out destination for locals, especially families and nature lovers. The forest’s dense sal trees create a refreshing “green tunnel” vibe, drawing comparisons to the scenic drives of Jammu–Srinagar .

A key attraction is Vinod‑Van Park inside its bounds, offering a children’s play area, mini‑zoo (with peacocks, rabbits, parakeets, deer, even a python), flower gardens, and a small cafeteria—ideal for half‑day outings . An adjacent Budhia Mai temple also adds a cultural touch .

Visitors highlight the well‑shaded, breezy roads (paved NH‑28) and occasional wildlife sightings like monkeys, deer, and birds—perfect for nature walks & photography . Many appreciate its cool retreat on summer days .

However, some reviews note maintenance concerns—overgrown paths, limited food options (so bring your own snacks), and an underwhelming zoo . A notably negative review described it as “dirty, crowded… avoid” , but this seems to be a minority view.

Overall, Kushmi Jangal offers a peaceful, budget‑friendly escape (with free entry; vehicle parking charges may apply) within a short drive of Gorakhpur. It's especially great for casual picnics, family outings, or a green weekend getaway—provided you're ready to pack some essentials and embrace its...

Location of Budhiya Mai Mandir is very pleasant. Some good time must be spent here. Quite good approach road in jungle is making this temple a must visit place. Soothing air and relaxing environement is the best thing I found.

There is a small pokhra between old and new temple. This can be crossed easily through available boats at very reasonable fare.

We, group of 4 cyclists, went from opposite end of the city, i.e. from Khajanchi Chauraha, Medical Road.

As with most famous temples, keep your prasad safe from monkeys. The whole route through Kusmhi Jungle is found to be filled with hundreds of monkeys.

Large number of small shops, ranging from prasad to bhutta, chat, tea, samosa etc. are now open here throughout the year. Very long queues are witnessed in Navratri Seasons. Availability of public transport is good now. Tempo are available at reasonable fare from morning to evening from city.

Gorakhpur's airport (Mahayogi Gorakhnath Airpot Terminal) is very near to this holy place at around 5-10 minutes bike/car run.

However, although most part of the way through Kusumhi jungle, is a national highway (NH-28), but there is no road light. So late evening or night travel by cycle could be dangerous due to relatively narrow road and density...

I went to this really famous spot in Gorakhpur called Budhiya Mata Mandir, and it was pretty cool.....It's definitely a place you should check out if you're in the area, but just a heads up... it gets pretty busy on weekends sometimes....There are actually two temples there, To get to the older one, you have to walk a bit - like a 100 meters or so and then you need to take a boat across this pond. It's not a big deal, but just something to keep in mind. Also, make sure you've got some cash on you, because most of the people there don't take online payments. The boat ride is just 10 /- per person. Overall, it's definitely worth a visit, especially if you're into that sort of thing. The whole atmosphere is really peaceful and stuff, so yeah, I'd recommend it.

Jai Ho Budhiya Mai Ki Jai 🙏🚩 Budhiya Mai Mandir located in Jungle Ramgarh Urf Sarka, Gorakhpur Uttar Pradesh. Budhiya mai mandir is one of the oldest temple of gorakhpur. Everyday thousand of people come to pray budhiya mai for the welfare of their family and their prosperity. Also a new temple is made just in front of the old temple. A small lake full of lotus is present between the two temples. You have to cross the lake in order to reach the old temple by a boat whose fare is Rs 10 per person. Especially on Tuesday and Saturday many devotees offer mango and other edible items to the monkeys. There are hundreds of monkeys ???? and langoors. Must visit the temple and be blessed. Jai Ho Budhiya Mai Ki Jai 🙏🚩 📍Give Thums up 👍 If you like this review
