This ancient temple of Hanuman ji is situated on the side of the fort near Triveni Sangam. In this temple, there is a huge south-facing idol of Hanumanji, which is six to seven feet below. The head of the idol is in the north and feet in the south direction. It is also called Bade Hanuman ji, Hanuman ji of the fort and Hanuman ji of the dam. There is a crowd of devotees here on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Devotees offer their marks by doing darshan-worship. The temple is managed by the Baghambari Gaddi.

It is believed that this temple is about 600-700 years old. It is said that a king of Kannauj had no children. He went to Guru Ashram to get children and the Guru ordered that Rajan get the statue of Hanuman installed in his kingdom. Its form should be such that those who had gone to Hades to rescue Lord Ram, and this Deity should be brought from Vindhya mountain, not from anywhere else. Then the king went from Kannauj to Vindhyachal mountain and he brought this statue to his kingdom by boat. On the way, the area of Prayag came. The king decided to rest the night by putting the boat on the shore at Prayag. Then suddenly the boat broke in the night and Hanuman ji's Deity was submerged, seeing this scene, the king was very sad and returned to his kingdom safely.

After many years, the water level of the Ganges decreased, then a Ram devotee Baba Balagiri Ji Maharaj tried to set his trident on the Sangam land. While digging the same dhuni, there was a sound of something colliding under the sand, then Baba Balagiri Ji Maharaj dug out that whole Deity and took it out. Baba was very pleased to see the whole Deity and started expressing his gratitude towards Lord Rama in his heart. He started worshiping Hanuman ji. At that time many idols were not in vogue, so devotees started coming from far and wide to see Hanuman ji.

Soldiers could not remove the idol, during the Mughal period, the work of destroying the big pilgrimage places of Hindus was going on. At that time the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb heard about this temple and came here and ordered his soldiers to remove the statue and throw it away. When the soldiers were engaged in lifting the statue, Baba Balagiri started praying to Hanuman ji Maharaj by mourning in his heart. Then Hanuman ji Maharaj showed a wonderful miracle and as the soldiers tried to lift the statue, the statue kept sitting on the earth. This went on for several days.

In the end, Balagiri Baba cursed all the soldiers and himself went away and started doing penance under the banyan tree. Due to the curse, the entire Mughal army became seriously ill. Then the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb panicked and went to Baba Balagiri and started apologizing and started saying! Baba forgive us, we believe in the miracle of this temple. We will not touch this temple and bless our soldiers to be...
