Very nice and peaceful place.Place of liberation from the bondage of life. The town of Barhalganj is situated on the banks of river Saryu on the Sarnath to Gorakhpur route. Here the 'Muktipath' built on the banks of the river is the center of attraction for the tourists. Tourists pass through here while going to Gorakhpur via Sarnath such as Mau or Azamgarh. This town is located on Buddha Circuit. The beauty of Muktipath attracts the mind from the bridge built over the river. If you are going to visit the Mahaparinirvana site of Lord Buddha located in Kushinagar from Varanasi or the Gorakhnath temple located in Gorakhpur, then definitely visit the Muktipath located in Barhalganj. Spend some time here. The mind...

The best place to visit in the town. The town doesn't have much to visit around. One can definitely visit Muthipath because it is a different place overall. Many come here to worship & even perform burning recitals of the dead. Many even bathe here to perform practices to serve God. There has been a renovation where, they have built it like a gallery. It is crowded on Shivratri. So, I would suggest one to check on the other days, if they casually want to visit this holy place.

Site for where cremations are carried out. Like most places in and around Barhalganj there is a lot of rubbish. This is a shame considering the nature of the site and its purpose. There is a park adjacent. The large monument of Lord Shiva has paintings on the wall (within the statue) depicting pictures of religious figures. It is a shame these have had graffiti on them which shows a real lack of respect. Shame as the facility is a real benefit and asset to the community.
