Tarkulha Devi Mata Mandir A religious place in the outskirts of Gorakhpur, where goddess Tarkulha Mata, i.e. Durga Mata is worshipped for blessings and fulfillment of prayers/wishes/desires. People used to tie thread ๐Ÿงต/dhaga for fruition of their wishes. The temple has some ancient history wherein a Tuli named Maa Durga devotee and freedom fighter was saved by Maa Durga 16 times from Britishers when he was tied with Palm ๐ŸŒฒ tree tip (Tarkul). The main temple protected by iron/still coverings/structures/pipes as shown in pic. Maa is seen sitting on Elephant ๐Ÿ˜ with garland. There is place for cracking coconuts ๐Ÿฅฅ in backside and sacrificing ๐Ÿ as prashad. There is a market for purchasing or worshipping/Puja items surrounding the temple and in the adjacent road. There is an open area where people come and cook meat by themselves or Cooks available there and enjoy a picnic. Everything such as Rice, Litti, Mutton, Chicken, Onions, Garlic, Chairs and Tables are available here for rent. Vegetarians can also have delicious Daal, Mouth watering Chokha, Paneer vegetables with hot Litti and Rice. No roti available here. Marriage lawn is available. People usually visit this place after 10 AM for a small outing/picnic and enjoying the delicious HANDI MUTTON. There are lots of meat ๐Ÿ– shop here. The cooks prepare mutton in earthen pots (see pics) with desi masale and style in low flames ๐Ÿ”ฅ for a masaledar delicious mutton. The area needs to be developed and maintained as a tourist place, as lots of people come here for darshan and prayers. Many monkeys roam around. Parking can be done in...

Tarkulha Devi is approx 15 Km far from Gorakhpur. It is on the Gorakhpur-Deoria Highways. The Temple is near famous chauri-chaura place which we must have read in our text books while studying for our independence and freedom fighters. The history of the temple is also related to our independence. This temple is of Goddess " Tarkulha Devi". The temple also belongs to martyred Bandhu Singh who was fighting with British Raj for independence and it has some interesting stories also. This Mandir and it's area is in very big area. Lots of meat shops are here. You can come and cook your meat by yourself or Cooks are also available here. Every thing such as Rice, Litti , Mutton, Chicken, Onions, Garlic, chair, table is available here for rent. Many people come here every day in huge number to take Blessings of Maa Tarkulha Devi and enjoy the delicious prashad. Vegetarian People can also have delecious Daal, Mouth watering Chokha , Panner Sabji with hot Litti and Rice. You can visit this place any time from 11 Am to 11 PM. The history of the Tarkulha Devi Temple in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh is linked to the freedom fighter Shaheed Bandhu Singh: Worship Bandhu Singh was a devotee of Tarkulha Devi and worshipped her by establishing a shrine under a palm tree on the banks of a river. Sacrifices Bandhu Singh would sacrifice the heads of the British soldiers he killed in the jungle and present them to the deity at the temple. Execution The British arrested Bandhu Singh and hanged him publicly on August 12, 1857 at Ali Nagar Chauraha in Gorakhpur. Miracle According to legend, the rope broke seven times when the hangman attempted to execute Bandhu Singh. On the eighth attempt, Bandhu Singh prayed to the deity and was hanged. Memorial A memorial was built to honor Bandhu Singh at the temple. Prasad The temple is the only one in India where mutton is served as prasad. Fair A large fair is held at the temple every year on the eve of Chaitra Ramnavmi. Other rituals The temple is also the site of other rituals, such as mundan and jเคจเฅ‡เคŠ.
