Exploring Kushinagar: the sacred land where Lord Buddha found eternal peace! 🌿☮️✌️🕊️ I recently visited Gorakhpur, thanks to @uptm2024, organised by @uttarpradeshtourism to promote tourism in the state. While the two-day event was action-packed, I really enjoyed my excursions to nearby places. One of them being #KUSHINAGAR.🌟 Among the many sacred Buddhist sites, Kushinagar is a standout. It’s the place where Gautam Buddha found his ultimate peace, known as NIRVANA. Located just 53 km from #Gorakhpur, this town is a living testament to history and spirituality. It’s not just a tourist spot; it’s the final resting place of Lord Buddha himself. The #MahanirvanaStupa, where Buddha attained Mahaparinirvana, is a sight to behold, as are the Golden Stupa, Japan-Sri Lanka Temple, serene Wat Thai temple where Buddha and Hindu Tridev (Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh) are also worshipped, and the grand Ramabhar Stupa, where the final rites of Gautam Buddha were performed according to Buddhist rituals. As I strolled through the stupas and temples, I was enveloped in the ancient chants of Buddham Sharnam Gacchami. The atmosphere was so serene and filled with spirituality that I couldn’t help but feel a deep connection to the place. I was exhilarated to step back in time and embark on a journey of discovery in the marvels of Kushinagar, where history weaves with spirituality in the most captivating way! From the ancient chants echoing through the streets to the grandeur of the Mahanirvana Stupa, every corner of Kushinagar holds a unique story, waiting to be explored. 🌺 Have you had the opportunity to explore the Buddhist circuit of Uttar Pradesh, particularly Kushinagar? I’d love to hear about your experiences and insights. Share them with us! #TravelSeeWrite #BuddhistHeritage #UPtourism #UPTM #BuddhistPilgrimage #mahaparinirvana #DekhoApnaDesh #incredibleindia

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 (5/5) Ramabhar Stupa (Mukut‑Bandhan Chaitya), Kushinagar A quietly profound and spiritual experience awaits at the Ramabhar Stupa, revered as the very site where Lord Buddha was cremated after attaining Mahaparinirvana. Constructed by the Malla kings, the brick stupa stands approximately 15 m tall with a base diameter of around 47 m and a drum measuring about 34 m across—an architectural testament to its ancient origins . ⸻ 🧘 Ambience & Atmosphere The stupa rests atop a modest mound set amidst green fields, near a dried-up pond called Ramabhar Jheel—likely the inspiration for its name . Palm trees line the circular path around the structure, where pilgrims offer lotus flowers and practice silent meditation. Even though weathered, the bricks and ruins exude a serene historical aura . 📍 Location & Access Situated about 1.5 km southeast of the Mahaparinirvana Temple and close to Buddha Ghat, it’s easily reached by a short walk, auto‑rickshaw or taxi along the Kushinagar–Deoria road. The site is just 4 km from the Kushinagar bus station . ⏰ Practical Info Open daily from 6 AM to 6 PM—early morning and late afternoon visits are most peaceful. The best time to visit is from October to March when the weather is mild and clear . No entry fee applies.
