The story of the Lord Vishnu idol is quite fascinating. One day, a mason decided to take a stone home. When he turned the stone over, he discovered the idol of Lord Vishnu. The mason informed the then Honorary Magistrate and Zamindar, Rai Bahadur Abhinandan Prasad, who had the idol brought to his residence, Nandan Bhavan.

However, the idol did not stay there for long. When the then British Collector, Sillett, came to know about it, he had the idol removed from Nandan Bhavan and kept in the district's Malakhana (treasury). Later, it was sent to the Lucknow Museum.

Today, the idol is still housed in the Lucknow Museum and is an important pilgrimage site for devotees of Lord Vishnu.
