Best trek of lifetime. All details are mentioned below:

Stay in Sagar Village in specifically in Maharaja homestay/hotel as it's the best and the starting point of Rudranath trek is just 10m from the hotel. Charges may vary from 1k-2.5k per night. They can arrange you a guide who can carry luggage upto 15kg and will make sure you get a stay in Lyuti Bugyal or Rudranath. The charges for the Guide will vary from 1200-1700 per day excluding the food charges of the guide. Plan accordingly where you want to stay in first day of trek: Lyuti or Rudranath. Lyuti Bugyal is 12km from Sagar village and is the mid point. Preferably stay in Lyuti on first day and on second day visit Rudranath and come back to Lyuti and stay. And on 3rd day return to Sagar. Torch also need.

Take small steps while trekking ad you will be dehydrated and the path to temple is not at all good. It's very steep 80% of the trek. The trek is difficult so do carry least amount of luggage with you or else take a guide.

Start your trek at 4am or 5am in morning and try to take rest after every 1hr. As more rest you take more lazy you will be and will be late to reach Lyuti or Rudranath.

The first check point will be Pung Bugyal which is 3km from Sagar Village and the trek is difficult till this. There is stay options for at max 10ppl in Pung Bugyal.

Then after Pung there will a small refreshment point after 2km in middle of the forest and the trek is normal till that. You can have any refreshment along with lunch or breakfast there.

After that the trek becomes very difficult and water source is minimal and the last one is in that mid forest refreshment spot. From there Lyuti Bugyal is 7-8km and as the forest area ends the trek becomes extremely difficult with higher inclination in trekking.

Reach Lyuti Bugyal by 1 or 2pm to get good tents with better facilities. In whole trek do carry atleast 2L water bottle and more and more chocolate or juices as they are the only source of energy. And don't throw the garbage in forest or in trek. There will be refreshment points which will have dustbins. To reach Lyuti Bugyal from Sagar village it takes approx 7-8hrs.

Stay in Lyuti Bugyal for a day and leave for Rudranath on next day early morning. If you want to see the Morning aarti then leave by 1-2am. In Lyuti Bugyal, tent with mattress will cost you 600per night and with bed will cost you 1k per night and food included with these. The washrooms are not very clean so don't expect much.

If normal darshan you want to have then you can leave by 4-5am. Approx time to reach Rudranath is 6-7hrs from Lyuti Bugyal. From Lyuti till Rudranath is 12km approx and the first 2km till Panar Bugyal is very tough and try to reach there before the sunrise and you can see the Sunrise will Himalayan views. Forest department PPL will check for the permit or you can also make the permit there itself which will cost you 200 per person.

After Panar Bugyal the views are like heaven. From Panar to Pitradhar is 5km approx. The trek is normal with a little up then down. But the route is more scary as the path is very narrow and horses also pass by. If you have covered Sagar to Lyuti then the path till Pitradhar will seem nothing in that comparison. There are no shops or refreshment points after Lyuti Bugyal and also no water source till Panch Ganga.

Reach Pitradhar and take some rest as after that the path is mostly down. But in few places you have to climb a bit. Reach Panch Ganga which is 3km approx from Pitradhar. When you see a big meadow you will know it's Panch Ganga.

From Panch Ganga it takes approx 1hr30min till Rudranath and the road is normal with a little inclination and disinclination. In the route you will see a bell from which you can see the Temple at last.

Remember there is very limited accomodation in Rudranath and Washroom facility is also very bad.

From 12pm-3pm the darshan is closed and after 7pm approx aarti the temple is closed.

You can also visit few kunds Saraswati and Surya if you want. Saraswati kund is at backside of the temple....
