Geden Tharpa Choling Monastery is as peaceful and serene as most monasteries in Himalayas. It's not far from Kalimpong main market. However, usually one would need to go by a car. What sets it apart is that it houses a museum that was established in 1922. It has preserved Tibetan coins and currency from early 20th century and even from late 19th century, many old artifacts like figurines, pots, clothes, shoes, manuscripts, photographs etc. It gives one a very interesting peek in the past. Another beautiful monastery in Kalimpong. This is a Must visit as well. We could not go inside as it was closed that day and hour, but the outside view is so tremendously beautiful and awestruck us that we sat there for the view and amazingly peaceful vibrations.
