Magnificent & expansive are the words that aptly describe this zoo. Although regarded as a 'Mini Zoo', but in reality it's not small in size. This spectacular zoo is spread across a huge forest area, typically covered with tall Sal trees. Situated at a distance of 2.5 kilometres from the Jhargram railway station, this zoo can be reached both by walking as well as by hiring a toto. The entry ticket costs a nominal ₹15 only. After entering the zoo, you will come across several animal species. Some of the most fascinating animals and birds that I had observed during my trip, include :-

  1. One Leopard

  2. Rabbits - Kept in a huge open area, where they can freely run around and enjoy like their natural habitat.

  3. Deers - This zoo is also referred to as the 'Deer Park', because it houses plenty of deers, Neel Gai and more.

  4. Monkeys - Several species of monkeys are kept here, inside seperate cages.

  5. Vulture & Hawk - A huge enclosure, where these big birds are kept, so that they can fly freely.

  6. Reptiles - This Zoo has got a 'Reptile House' where diverse types of snakes are kept inside glass enclosure.

  7. Bear - I was surprised to see so many bears kept together in an open space. The name of these bears are written on top of their respective caves.

Apart from the above ones, you will also come across jungle cats, birds, foxes etc.

It's definitely a highly recommended place to visit for anyone willing to spend a day in the lap of mother...
