I was traveling between Darjeeling and Siliguri via Mirik to see various tea estates on 18 October 2023. I stopped at two other tea estates. Had a great experience. It was my intent to stop at this one. Unfortunately it was closed because of a strike by the labourers. The disagreement was on Puja bonuses I am told. The labourers took to the road and blocked the road for all travelers from both directions. The blockage started at 7 am I am told. I got there about 1 pm, to find the road blocked. There was no food or water available. Neither the company, nor the labourers did anything to help the stranded travelers. I was able to get the help of a local person, to show us a way around the blockade after 8 pm, via an unpaved road. I do not know how long the blockade lasted afterwards.
