Sikia Jhora is a good picnic spot for all ages. Sikia means comb in Nepali referring to the rocks over which the water flows. Jhora means a stream. Sikia Jhora translates to "Comb like stream". The place has walking path around the stream, lot of shady places, the highlight of course is the boating which seems to be very popular. As my visit was on a holiday, the place was quite crowded. Local transport is not available, one has to travel by own transport. Sufficient parking is available. No fancy eating places. Only one hotel servs simple lunch. Advisable to carry own eats if possible. Tit bit snaks and water available for payment. The Boating is an experience worthy, umbrellas are provided to cover oneself from the harsh Sun. Winding water streams, we were not fortunate to spot any wild animals, seems very unlikely too. The stream unfortunately is covered with lot of water Hyacinths weeds. Boarding the boat is quite unorganised and crowded, one needs to buy a ticket. One may have to wait too for a while. Good...

Well, it's not a jhora in a true sense. "Jhora" the very hindi word has an appeal of something natural beauty, pristine landscape and unspoiled wilderness. You will be disappointed going there. All you will get are a man made garden, a broken river gate, an abandoned rest house, a children's park without proper maintenance and a wooden bridge without any purpose. Nothing rustic and unspoiled.😔 But, wait. Yes, there is something uncanny and adventurous.😨 A boat ride of 30 minutes that will take you through a narrow rivulet overwhelmed with undergrownd moss and water plants, encroaching branches of towering trees and all silence of a graveyard. The natural sound of the oars mixed with that of the forest will make it poignant. Ugh! A life time experience, never to be forgotten. And there are birds, a lots of birds. A paradise for bird lovers. Please don't miss the ride. Best time to take it is in the afternoon, when birds and animals usually come home. The boat ride made is worth...
