I wish I had read the reviews before entering the park!!!
At the enterence the guides meet you with lots of stories "how cool is the park". Is it true? Personally, I do not think so:
the park is not different from any Bali road; did we saw all the described animals? No. Black monkeys (The Celebes crested macaque - Macaca nigra). As per guide - National park is the only place where black monkeys live. However, you do not know that the monkeys are shy till you enter the park with the guide. You could see them on a distance, sometimes with a zoom. Is it the only place on Bali where Macaca nigra lives - I do not think so. As per guide the babies monkey colour is orange. Did we see it? Yes, but I could not find any proof of it in Google. Our friend says: " Knowing Balinese - it could be fake". At the beginning of our tour the guide was helping us to see the monkey and was happy as a baby when found a one on the distance of a few metres. However, when we biked back, guide went really fast and totally skipped the whole monkey family just all on one tree next to the road. deers & wild pigs - we saw one or two and again the guide was saying to us " how lucky we are". This is a b...sh..t. In my life I saw massive wild deer & pig families. You could see all this animals in a wils life if you just go tramping native birds - they could be in the park, but we saw none
At the beginning of the track there is good surface road, but as soon as it ends real park starts: dusty road, lots of rubbish on the road and beaches etc. Again, the guid said - the park is cleaned regularly. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like it is ☹️☹️☹️☹️
Entrance Fee. Guids cheat at the entrance. The official price for foreigners is 200k ( I wish I know earlier) but on entrance trying to make you fool and ask to pay 1.15 million. We paid 600k for 2 at the end. They make sure to hire a guide. They don't want to let you in without a guide. But as the result- there is no...
Read moreTerribly addition to our trip. I’ve wanted to visit the national park for years & finally made to this side of Bali to be greeted by a bunch of scam artists. Never have I ever had to bargain for an entry fee into a national park & be wary of unnecessary add-ons. The only animals we got to see were the people lying their way into ripping you off at the gate for a 2 plus million “cheaper here” entry fee for a party more than we even had. You won’t even get the chance beyond the gate to talk to an official for a reasonable price. Not to mention the mandatory guide you wouldn’t need if you’re on a motorbike. I love & respect the Balinese people. It’s a shame there’s people out there muddying their name. Save yourself the wasted day trip & see somewhere else in Bali more reasonable even if the prices are higher (which I expect/should be. We’re...
Read moreWe had a great time thanks to our guide, Hari. We did the trek, the park is beautiful and we saw all the animals thanks to Hari’s good eyes and knowledge of the park. Definitely worth getting the guide.
We also had scooter troubles when leaving and were worried that we would be stuck but Hari helped us to get a mechanic, helped us get back to our accommodation and fed us a home cooked meal (best food I’ve eaten in Indonesia or maybe ever).
Hari was very very kind and knowledgeable and he made our time at the park very very enjoyable.
To all the people whinging about the cost of entry and the guide in the reviews, the guide service is part owned by the local villages meaning that the fees go to supporting the villages and the park. Our guide was also the kindest man in the world so I’m more than happy to help him and the...
