5 stars Bunut Bolong is one of those rare and magical places that truly stays with you. Nestled in the hills of West Bali, this sacred tree with a natural tunnel carved through its roots is not only a natural wonder but also a deeply spiritual site. The moment you arrive, you can feel the peaceful energy surrounding it—calm, ancient, and sacred.

Driving through the giant banyan tree is an unforgettable experience. It’s more than just a photo opportunity—this place has strong spiritual significance for the Balinese people. On either side of the tree, you’ll find small temples that are beautifully kept, reminding visitors of the deep respect the locals have for nature and tradition.

The tree itself is enormous, majestic, and awe-inspiring. It’s a perfect symbol of how nature and spirituality are deeply intertwined in Bali. We took a quiet moment to simply stand and appreciate the powerful presence of this place—it truly feels alive.

The surrounding area is just as stunning. With lush greenery and cool mountain air, Bunut Bolong offers a perfect stop if you’re exploring West Bali or heading towards Pemuteran or Negara. There are hardly any crowds, which makes the experience even more personal and special.

If you appreciate sacred places, nature, and authenticity, Bunut Bolong is absolutely worth a visit. It’s not just a tree—it’s a living temple, a cultural treasure, and a peaceful place to connect with the...

Spectacular giant tree with hole

I don't know how old this tree, but according the locals, it's over hundred years old, maybe several hundred years? But the tree is real amazing, so big, so tall and it's not one tree, but combined from two or three trees together.

According the locals, in the past, the hole is small, but they make it big because of the road, so the vehicle can go through. If you notice, there's a sign board and the other small road beside. The sign said that the small road is for wedding ceremony and funeral ceremony. The two ceremonies is prohibited through the hole in the middle of the tree because will cause bad luck.....

You can go here with car or motorbike, it's a long long trip from Ubud or Kuta, but along the road there's nice scenery, and you can visit Vihara Dharma Giri in Tabanan on the...

Cool drive up to see this amazing tree. Fun to be able to drive through the tree and amazing surroundings on the bridge just past the tree with breathtaking mountain views. Only downfall would be the fact that the locals drap fabric on the tree and ribbons that may detract from its natural beauty and cover up some of its amazing above ground root system. (Understood that this may be a religious Hindu tradition or have to do with a local ceremony and I have respect for other people's chocies, especially if they are the local people...

Very beautiful. But also on they way i saw the most disgusting and disturbing Thing on bali. I stoped just a few Kilometer before also at a banyan tree with a little temple. There was parking beside a slope so i stop to take a rest. Then a man with a little Truck stoped beside me. I thought he also wanted to take a break. But what he did left me speechless. He took 2 big black garbage bags from his truck and threw them down the slope. On the picture is the Spot of the garbage dump.
