Its a good thing it was recommended by our tour guide/driver. According to him , the spirit of artist lives on the paintings which I really agree. A real art should be like that. We were greeted by the grandson of Dewa Putu and he kindly showed us an artist in process of painting art using oil. There’s a kind guide, sorry for forgetting his name showed us more painting in gallery. The more exquisite and renowned the artist is, the more expensive the paintings are. Its really a treat to your soul looking at all these beautiful works of art and it really felt alive. I will come back and buy from them for sure. They have huge collections from abstract to expressionist. The prices are negotiable as well and they accept US credit cards. I took home this piece with real sand on it. Its simple but striking and still life oil in cardboard. I met dewa putu toris in person and he is very humbled. Honestly, I had an 80 dollars copy of an art, I bought from Big Bear and I bought an original art in canvas from them for 100 usd which is really reasonable. When you’re in Bali and love paintings , its a must you take a look into...
Read moreVisited this gallery when on 1 week holiday in Bali - it was among several that we visited and by far the best in terms of selection. Our local guide was hesitant bro bring us there as he said prices were higher than other places but it’s obvious that in Bali you get what you pay for. We arrived late at night but the place is apparently open 24/7 as owners stay in the same building. It was an ornate Balinese compound with many rooms of various types of paintings. Some looked reproduced and many were not to our liking but we managed to leave with 2 pieces that we liked. Will require some negotiation but owner...
Read moreBig house gallery with lots of original artwork that was nice to see and admire, however we could not help but feel it was a bit of a tourist trap with a few painters at the door showcasing the process and then very high prices (relative to Bali). We were constantly reminded that all prices were negotiable, but starting prices appeared to be a few hundred to a few thousand USD. This would have been fine if it was a simple gallery tour and freedom to buy if we wanted but we did feel pressured at the end to buy something before we left which left us with a bitter taste in our mouth of the...
