Payung Rafting Bali — Attraction in Bali

Very nice experience, smooth organisation and good guide! A little point of recommendation though: for an activity that revolves around the beauty of nature, a little more eco-consciousness would have been nice. For example: when asked where to throw cigarette butts, the guide said to throw it on the ground (aka in nature) instead of providing a bin. This doesn’t feel right for most visitors, I believe. we were given plastic cutlery for the lunch instead of usual (reusable) fork and knives, as well as plastic water with plastic straws instead of filtered water in glasses, and single use plastic bags for clothes… Given the big waste management issues in Indonesia, I think a lot of tourists like ourselves would prefer not to add unnecessary plastic to it in the river was a lot of garbage too, as well as all around the little bars by the riverside where the boat stopped. This makes the experience less idyllic, maybe it can be a good idea to organise river cleanup activities?

I hope Payung and other companies will start taking these issues in consideration so we can keep on enjoying this kind of rafting excursions in the long run, because the environment itself...

We went on the Ayung Rafting trip this morning and had a great time. We are two tourists from Aus and did the trip with about 20 locals on what seemed to be a team exercise. It was pretty chaotic and rustic but the guide was fun but sincere, the equipment was fine and the instructions clear. The rafting was really fun and being a part of the other larger group that was filled with enthusiasm and energy it was hard not to feel the same way. The river is wonderful, and on my first rafting adventure I never felt in danger and recommend it for anyone wanting to try it for the first time. There are interesting carvings the guide pointed out on a huge rock face which tells a story similar to Romeo and Juliet. Lots of little waterfalls. There is a break midway with stalls for drinks if you feel like any. If you didnt bring money the guide will take the bill which you can pay later. Had such a great time with this company! They picked us up from the hotel, and took us to the company base, where there are lockers and changing rooms. We had the best time on this adventure with our brilliant guide, Edo. He was such great fun, so positive and we were very grateful that he went above and beyond to make us happy, he had us laughing the whole day. One member of our boat was very nervous and couldn’t swim, and Edo was really encouraging and helped them throughout the day. They ended up having an amazing time, despite being quite nervous initially. The views on the river are beyond beautiful, and it is an exciting trip without being frightening, so it is great for families with younger kids too. There are quite a few steps at the beginning and end, but we didn’t think they were too challenging. The lunch at the end was also good, and vegetarian.
