Pura Dalem Tamblingan is one of two temples nestled along the shores of Lake Tamblingan, the westernmost of three caldera lakes formed from a violent eruption approximately 20,000 years ago. Hidden from view, it can only be seen on close approach after crossing the lake in a rented canoe, as no roads lead directly to the temple. As with all Dalem temples, the local villagers use Pura Dalem Tamblingan for funerary rites, and it is dedicated to Siwa (Shiva) in his destructive element. The temple faces west—toward the setting sun—in keeping with its significance as a place representing the end of life. Its principal architecture is a single nine-story meru tower, thatched with sugar palm, around which are a variety of smaller shrines and sacred spaces such as a natural linga-yoni rock pairing.    Read moreAt the moment one can drive all way down to the water's edge and up next to Pura Ulun Danu Tamblingan (pre Covid had to stop in the parking area at the top of the road before the Gapura and walk). The lake is very, very low at the moment. Nice simple walk to the East around the lake edge to Pura Dalem Tamblingan (apparently it dates back over 1,000 years (according to Wikipedia)) and back along the forest road. Can rent dugout canoes/metal tandem canoes. We didn't. Donation for entry (we gave 30k for 4 people plus a dog 😊!).    Read moreTrès joli lieu où l'entrée est payante. 30 000 IDR de mémoire par personne. Les lieux sont accessibles en scooter et vous pouvez faire une partie du tout du lac en scooter. Très reposant. Nous avons eu l'occasion de voir le marchand de glace venir sur place avec son attirail sur son scooter. Très mignon avec les enfants.
Il y a en tout 3 temples à voir. Belle balade à pied pour ceux qui le souhaitent ( en scooter c'est plus rapide ^^ )
