Abandoned and heartbreaking zoo – these animals deserve better
We visited Taman Satwa in Tabanan and were shocked by what we found. The park looks completely abandoned and neglected. Everything is run down, with no staff in sight, and the atmosphere feels like total abandonment.
The animals looked extremely sad and unhealthy. The monkeys had tears in their eyes, the orangutan looked broken and lonely. The elephants were chained up with hardly any space to move, just standing next to each other. Even though they were given food, it was clear they are not being cared for properly.
It was absolutely heartbreaking to witness this. This is not a safe or healthy environment for animals. I truly hope this place will be shut down and that the animals can be moved to a sanctuary where they can receive proper care, love, and freedom.

Got accompanied / guided by Mba Rista the cashier staff due to no visitors at that time. ● Really near experience with the elephant. Got close to it by touching it and taking pictures for precious memories. ● Love the open bird cage as we can interact with them inside. ● White parrots can talk and say assalamualaikum, hallo, kakatua wow..respect for the trainer! 》 Downsides : ▪︎ no liquid soap on the washing basin at the public toilet near the main entrance. ▪︎ Attraction are less and this zoo needs a specific topic or concept to focus on in order to strengthen its digital marketing strategy. ▪︎ Animals need to be more well fed ▪︎ The area of wild grasses and plants should be cleaned to get...
Read moreDO NOT GO IN HERE. I thought I was going inside a sanctuary, and this zoo is falling apart. The animals (which they don’t have many) are all in really small cages, specially the huge hippo, that didn’t have any space to move around. We didn’t see one employee around taking care of them, no feeding, nothing! and OMG. I wanted to cry when I saw the elephants. We went there to feed them, and they had a big group of Italians riding the elephants. Which for me is already a big red flag…and even worst because they did not give any water to the animals, after going back and forth 3 times, but the elephants had big wood chairs on their backs. It was so sad! PLEASE, CLOSE...
