Do not imagine buildings like Pendem fortress in Cilacap or buildings like fortresses in Maluku when hearing the name of Toboali's Fort. Despite the name of the fort, the buildings in the Toboali Fort is slightly different. There is no large wall surrounding the entire fort. But it may be understandable if you look at the geographical location of this fort. Toboali Fort is located 18 meters above sea levels. There is a beach that is quite steep behind the fort. This location was an ideal place to build a fortress in 1825. Because it was built in 1825 so the party who built this Toboali fort was the Dutch colonial government. The main used of this fort is as a training center for colonial troops and safeguarding the coastal area of Toboali. Because Bangka island is one of tin-producing areas with high selling value. Therefore, this area needs to be protected in order not to be seized by other parties. Selection of its location is in Toboali because of its strategic geographic location. Therefore the Toboali fort was also the ideal location to control the Tin market. Toboali Fort maybe not like a common fortress. It does not mean this Castle has no interesting point. We can see a unique phenomenon that can only be found in the Toboali Fort and also the fortress in Semarang, Central Java. That is the phenomenon of Ficus tree. This phenomenon is the root of Ficus trees that try to penetrate the walls of the Toboali Fort. But the harshness of the walls causes Ficus tree roots cannot penetrate and seek other points to penetrate. Gradually the composition of Ficus tree roots that try to penetrate the walls of the fort instead creates a scene that has its own charm. As if the tree grows through the walls of the fortress building.

Benteng Toboali merupakan peninggalan pemerintah kolonial Belanda yang dibangun pada tahun 1825 di sebuah bukit dipinggir pantai sebelah utara kelurahan Tanjung Ketapang, Toboali di Bangka Selatan. Jarak benteng dari pusat kota Toboali hanya sekitar 10 menit perjalanan dengan kendaraan bermotor. Jarak benteng ini sekitar 130 Km dari Kota Pangkalpinang. Dari bukit yang berketinggian sekitar 18 meter itu, dapat dilihat pemandangan Pantai Bhayangkara atau yang lebih akrab di sebut warga setempat dengan Pantai Nek Aji.

Benteng ini tidak perlu biaya masuk, berlokasi di ujung toboalii yang langsung berhadapan dengan pantai. Akan lebih menarik bila penjelasan mengenai benteng in idi perbarui dan dibuat lebih bisa dibaca (dekat dengan tulisan benteng toboali pintu masuk). Tidak terlalu banyak trmpat yang bisa di gunakann untuk berfoto dan juga kunjungan yang lama akan menimbulkan rasa bosan karna memang tidak apa2, hanya berdiri bangunan dulu yg menjdi benteng dan pohon2 besar.

Selain menjadi wisata bersejarah, spot yg ada juga ga kalah menarik dari wisata lainnya. Dengan adanya bangunan-bangunan yg tersisa tapi masih berdiri kokoh inilah yg menjadi daya tariknya. Apalagi dengan sentuhan akar-akar pepohonan menempel di dinding bangunan yg membuat kesan kokohnya makin menonjol. Selain itu tempat ini memberikan kesejukan karena pohon yg rindang menaungi tempat ini.

Salah satu tempat bersejarah di Toboali, Bangka Selatan. Di benteng peninggalan jaman Belanda ini, terdapat banyak bekas bangunan yang tinggal puing2. Ada yang mengatakan bangunan ini bekas penjara, dan didirikan hanya dengan tanah. Terdapat banyak akar2 dan pohon2 besar disekitar bangunan. Dan di satu ujung bagian nya terdapat tempat duduk dari batu dengan latar belakang laut lepas.
