One of the highest points on Merapi Mountain for tourist (read: non mountain climbers). The track there is easier to reach if you choose the Kalasan route instead of from the Kaliurang street. Prepare your vehicles if you want to go there, since the track will become very rocky and winding near the spot. More people nowadays use the track for bicycling as well. So it's also an option for you.
Choose a bright and clear day to come here since the mist can fall and cover this hill and because the view of the mountain is its main scenery.
The place has wide parking lot but not really taken care of. The workers there just stay on their spots to collect parking fee and check your temperature. No entrance fee, luckily. The bathrooms are not clean T.T There are many small stalls offering food and drink but the price are usually more expensive, so better bring your own food and drink since it is not prohibited to do so.
Come early in the morning especially during weekend or holidays since people will flock this place. Some gazebos and benches are available for people to sit but if they are full, you will have to sit on the grass, so maybe prepare small...

There’s no playground, but the area is great for a light hike around the hill and many families were enjoying camping or picnicking together.
📸 Definitely a spot to revisit—nature, peace, and a clear view of one of Indonesia’s most...
Read moreTourist attractions to see top of the Merapi Mountain closer. I might suggest if you want to see clear weather and mountain scenery, go there in the morning before 9 am, because after that, mist and cloud will surround the mountain. It has local Strawberry farm where you could harvest the strawberry and it will cost 10K Rupiah/ounce (it tastes swet as well ;) ). It has some small hut to take a rest for a group, quite large open field area to go picnic with family, but you can't go over more than 1 km up the mountain because of the government regulations since Merapi is an active volcano. There is no entering fees for Bukit Klangon, but you will be charge at the gate downhill before entering bukit Klangon village (5-10K) plus vehicle parking fees (2-5K). There are several souvenir shop and shop where you can buy food like fritters or noodles and...
