Silancur Highland — Attraction in Central Java

If you’re looking for a hidden gem to catch a stunning sunrise with breathtaking mountain views, Silancur Highland is a must-visit! It’s actually an accommodation, but it’s also open to the public starting from 5:00 AM – perfect for early risers chasing that golden hour.

Located about 35 minutes from downtown Magelang, the good news is the road access is surprisingly smooth! No need to worry about rough or steep roads – everything was in great condition when I visited.

The highlight here is the view of Mount Sumbing, which looked absolutely majestic when I went. On a clear day, you might even be lucky enough to see Mount Merapi and Mount Merbabu at the same time. Unfortunately, it was a bit foggy when I visited, but I was still super happy – because Sumbing alone is stunning!

The view from this place is beautiful, with a cool atmosphere and easy access. On clear days, it’s possible to see Mount Merbabu, Mount Merapi, and Mount Sumbing all at once. When there’s fog, it creates a more dramatic and peaceful setting. The cityscape below also adds to the overall scenery. From my experience, there wasn’t much of a line when entering early in the morning, but the area started getting crowded around 7 AM. One downside during my visit was that some people smoked in random areas, which made the experience less comfortable due to the smoke.

Based on my visit: arriving before sunrise can offer a quieter environment and cooler air. Weekdays or non holiday mornings tend to be less crowded, which made it easier for me to enjoy the space...

Beautiful place to see sceneries from above while hanging out. The place is nicely designed, with several well-maintained flower paths on the lower level, and a little forest style cafe upstairs. The wind can be quite strong, so watch your hats! The floor upstairs are covered with synthetic grass, which is a great idea to ensure it not get too beaten from visitors, as well as easy to clean. There are several swings to play with. Be mindful of your mobile phone battery level, as there are only one electrical outlet to charge from.
