A good place to wait for the sun to rise above the mountains of Bromo and others surrounding it.. Love the view, hate the vibes
I think the govt. should place more security officers to limit traspassing by dumb visitors who climb fences, to limit people littering, and also to limit street vendors who annoyingly tries to provide items and/or services we don't actually need.. it ruins the whole experiences..
If you're from abroad or a first-timer visiting this place, the only necessary services you need is a transport from the place you're staying to a place the locals calls “rest area” and another off-road transport to take you from the “rest area” to the national park.. try consult your local trip organizer.. anything other than that is unnecessary and a waste of money..
Street vendors will try to sell you gloves, beanies, scarfs, etc.. The most challenging thing is to say “no, thank you” to these vendors despite you’re already wearing cold wears and coats.. they will follow you annoyingly and will attempt to discourage you and try to make you believe that it’s SUPER COLD up there.. Near the stairs of Bukit Cinta, there’s another street vendor who tries to provide you motorbike taxi services.. they will discourage you by saying that the stair cases are SUPER HIGH.. what makes it worse is that it’s dark and people are easily discouraged.. trust me, the stairs...
Read moreThe beauty of this Vulcano and the surroundings are undeniable. The insane industry around it, is not. I had not realized that when we were booking this tour, we were paying to be in a traffic jam of jeeps, that are either racing or just getting in line to be up the mountain as soon as possible. Only to drop you off two hours in advance, because of the crowds. The fumes, the fuel used for these traffic jams - it's terrible for our planet. I feel terrible for participating in this and it didn't improve visiting of the crater. They force those jeeps to park pretty far away so the horse industry can make money. I don't mind the walk, but a lot of tourists are lazy and think it's a fun photo op, because these frustrated, overheated horses that aren't offered any or significant water are often painted in rainbow colours. Nothing short of animal abuse to pay to sit on those small framed horses that are being whipped, pulled and stressed as they are straining up and down that hill. I saw them drueling (sign of pain and stress) and kick; many times on just my short walk - can't imagine there aren't any injured horses, handlers and tourists. I'm not saying the Bromo isn't worth s visit. It just has nothing to do with caring about our planet and I am hoping people will stop paying for the...
Read moreWe wanted to go to kingkong and somehow ended up here instead. The view is 5 star of course, but here is why i rated it 1 star: pollution due to cigar, and especially gasoline smell + sand dust. You get a lot more pollution in 1 day here than on your normal day in the city, you can't even breathe properly. The 'motorbike service' is just scammers just check where you are with maps, you decide if you need them or not. When you reject them they will follow you around with their motorbike blocking your way, blocking your airway with pollutant smoke. Seriously you got dizzy, they are not helpful at all, just care for some money. Sand dust is already bad but bearable alone. Must you add other pollutant with it? Finally we have reached for this love hill area from the rest area below but because it is dark we don't even notice the stairs on the right side and guess what, one of those 'service offerer' told us to go the other way and trying to get us to rent their motor, seriously, not even that is enough there were mat seller, blanket seller hat seller, and even flower seller that sell edelweiss which you supposed not to pick at all as it is classified as endangered species.
And there are fire in the other direction on the mountian, but i think no one is even tackling that one until...
