Ankermi Happy Dive — Attraction in East Nusa Tenggara

Hidden Paradise!... With a few hiccups. First about the accommodation. The whole place seems very well maintained. It's clean and overall kept in good shape with a beautiful garden and restaurant area. The little bungalows with either garden view or sea view are just lovely! The outside shower and toilet are covered by a little roof and kept simple, but mostly working. The sink in ours didn't drain by itself, but that's a minor issue. Inside you're provided with a mosquito net around the bed and air conditioning and/or a fan. When we first arrived the place smelled a little moldy, but airing it out for a few hours solved the problem quickly. Only problem we kept running into is that with the very frequent power cuts, the aircon would turn off. During the day not really an issue, but at night nobody switched on the generator, so it would get very hot, especially under the mosquito net. The other problem was the advertised Wifi, which was never on, even after inquiring with the staff. On top of that, some of the staff was very unfriendly the first few days. Maybe just shy, as they opened up later during our stay. The food here is priced quite high, but the Nasi Goreng we had most of the days was always amazing! All in all, 4 stars for that, as you do pay for the extras and feel a little cheated when half of it isn't really working/provided. Secondly the diving. I'll keep this short as most people coming here are returning guests, who know how it works here. I'd definitely recommend it, as the dives we had were pleasant with mostly healthy coral and lots of little critters to find. Sadly, the owner seemed to be a little bored or demotivated by the diving, not really happy or excited to show this...

We stayed 5 days (four days of diving) at Happy Dive and the name is what you get. The little Resort lies well outside of Maumere, what makes it a very pleasant and calm place to stay. The wonderful stuff is helping with everything you might need, so you don’t need to leave this place for anything (what you won’t want to do anyway 😉). The bungalows come with ocean view and are very clean (stuff is cleaning up every day). Food is very nice as well and for dinner you get to sit together with the other guests, which also makes it a very sociable place. Diving in Maumere is very beautiful and as Claudia is diving there since almost 30 years, she knows all the places by heart and shows you a lot of interesting stuff. She’s a very funny but also highly professional person. Overall I would highly recommend this place and always come back for a relaxing and beautiful...

Probably one of the last paradise on earth…

Diving: Around 30 dive sites available, muck dive directly from the beach, super nice wreck dive nearby, great night dives. The diving boat is a bit of an experience, it’s safe but pretty loud. But that kept my diving budget reasonable and helped the local economy...win-win :) The owner Claudia is also the dive guide and will always find great stuff to show you. Also, super fun dive buddy.

Rooms: I got the ones with air con, and was super happy with it. It’s spacious, has a gorgeous bathroom and all rooms have mosquito nets. Slept super well there.

Food: Local cuisine with locally grown vegetable, super yummy. Not a lot of meat and fish, but also don’t really need it.
