I had the pleasure of visiting Kelimutu Lake during my trip, and I must say, it was really nice to finally able to come here again.
The entrance fee for local is 10k rupiah and 20k for foreign tourist.
The facilities are fairly basic, but they are adequate for the needs of most visitors. There are a few simple cafes and shops near the parking area, where visitors can buy drinks, snacks, and souvenirs.
The parking area itself is spacious and well organized, with plenty of space for vehicles of all sizes. There are also clean and well-maintained restrooms nearby, which is always a good thing. The parking fee itself is 10k rupiah for the car and 5k for motorbike
The trek to the top of Kelimutu Lake is quite challenging, but there are several rest stops along the way where visitors can take a break and catch their breath. These rest stops are equipped with basic facilities such as benches and shelters, which are helpful for those who need to take a break from the hot sun or even rain, The scenery on some of these rest stops are also amazing. And not only that there are also some restrooms or toilet along the way so you don't have to worry about it.
At the summit, there are no facilities beyond a few basic information signs about the lakes and the surrounding area. Visitors should come prepared with plenty of water and snacks, as there are no vendors or shops at the top, which is really interesting because back in 2014 there are some people that sells coffee, tea and even cup noodles.
Overall, while the facilities at Kelimutu Lake may be basic, they are adequate for the needs of most visitors. The real draw of this place is the natural beauty, of it's always changing lake color which is truly breathtaking and...
Read moreThe nature, it definitely deserves a five stars review. The scenic tuqoise lakes, the blue sky, the surrounding vegetation gave me such an calming atmosphere. This lake is worth a visit. The steps to the top of the mountain is fenced and you can reach the top at about 15 to 20 min. The public facilities, such as toilets, ticketing, are good. What makes this review a 3 stars is the scammers. Yes, they were there. During our visit on 25 March 2023, in the afternoon, this old man approached us and according to him, he is the guardian of this mountain. So, this was how he 'worked': he introduced himself as the guardian of this mountain, cited Ende's traditional customs and culture, took you to the top, offered to take some of your pictures, told you stories of the mountain (which you can read from the information boards along the track), 'guided' you down, and he charged per person an amount of IDR. Voila! Fyi, he did not accept a pay as you wish kind of tip. According to the locals he targets visitors in big group. I do hope that the authorities will enforce a safe environment in this site. And for future visitors, this site should be on your list when in Indonesia, but...
